Tony Dalton was Cast in Intergalactic Because of His Work on The Last of Us

We don't know much about Naughty Dog's Intergalactic : The Heretic Prophet yet, but we do know that the game has some celebrities in the cast including Kumail Nanjiani ( Silicon Valley ) and Tony Dalton ( Better Call Saul ). While some (like myself) thought that Dalton's recent appearance in The Last of Us was because he was working on The Heretic Prophet , it's been revealed that it was actually backward, and he was cast in the game because of his work on the series. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, game director Neil Druckmann revealed that he was a fan of Dalton's work in Better Call Saul , and this was the reason he was cast as Javier Miller—Joel's dad. 'Tony Dalton was my first choice… I just loved his performance so much in Better Call Saul . I jokingly refer to him as the most charming, threatening man I've ever seen on television,' said Druckmann. As it turns out, Druckmann was so pleased with Dalton's performance on the show that he immediately just gave the Intergalactic job to Dalton. He explains, 'He immediately came to mind, and I just offered it to him on the spot.' It's not clear who Dalton is going to be playing in Intergalactic yet, but some suspect that he was a kind of mentor to the main character Jordan (Tati Gabrielle) who went missing. If Dalton's previous work is to be a reminder, he does manage to be charming while at the same time very threatening—which could be a hint to his character in the game (who I suspect is another 'Han Solo-type'). For now Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has no release date, but you can catch Dalton in the latest episode of The Last of Us now on HBO Max.

Did You Notice THIS Daredevil: Born Again Star's Cameo in The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6? Here's How He Was Cast

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for The Last of Us, season 2, episode 6. Marvel fans might have noticed a major actor's presence in season 2, episode 6 of The Last of Us. Tony Dalton, who Marvel Cinematic Universe fans might know as The Swordsman, made his way into the outing of the post-apocalyptic series. In case you might know, the actor was seen in a flashback sequence of The Last of Us. Talking about the actors' casting, showrunner Neil Druckmann stated to Entertainment Weekly that Tony Dalton was his first choice to play the character of Javier Miller. "I just loved his performance so much in Better Call Saul. I jokingly refer to him as the most charming, threatening man I've ever seen on television," he added of the cast. Not only that, but after Dalton portrayed the character flawlessly, Druckman also cast him in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which happens to be the next original video game from the developers at Naughty Dog. Interestingly, Neil Druckmann serves this project as its president and head of creative. Coming to The Last of Us, Tony Dalton was seen in a flashback from the year 1983. His character, Javier Miller, was of a local police officer who is also a violent father of Pedro Pascal 's Joel and Gabriel Luna's Tommy. A young Joel is seen to be sitting at a table when his father comes home, expecting a beating. Meanwhile, Tommy is shown to try to buy drugs but comes across an incident with the dealer. Soon, Joel intervenes in the event, also beating the drug dealer while getting in trouble with the cops. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dalton was seen playing the mutant for the first time in Hawkeye and recently in the Charlie Cox-starring revival of the Hornhead series, Daredevil: Born Again.

Jeremy Renner Opens Up About Potential HAWKEYE Season 2 and Where the Story Would Go — GeekTyrant

Jeremy Renner isn't ruling out a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the path to Hawkeye Season 2 isn't without complications. In a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Renner addressed the swirling rumors of a follow-up season to his 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye, which starred Renner alongside Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, and Florence Pugh. The big rumor is that Season 2 would be a gritty, The Raid- style storyline involving Clint Barton's brother. Renner respoded that, saying: 'Maybe some of that is true in there, I don't know. We got into it, a little bit, sort of story-wise and stuff…Everybody is interested in it. 'I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, of course, man, I wouldn't say no to that.' I think there are a lot of ideas — they've still got to figure a lot of things out.' While he kept things vague on plot specifics, Renner made it clear that he's still interested in playing the character again even after he revealed his salary dispute with Marvel Studios. Renner recently revealed that Marvel offered him half of what he earned for the first season if he were to return. 'I'm like, 'I'm sorry? Why? Did you think I'm only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that's why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.'…I didn't ask for any more money, mind you. 'Just pay me what I made made the first season. So it's all disheartening that that didn't happen, but that's fine. I'm happy to let that go, because my body's probably thanking me, time and time again, that I'm not doing it right now. But we'll see.' Despite the pay cut controversy, Renner remains open to returning, especially if it supports a cause close to his heart. 'I'm game to do it,' he told Horowitz, referencing how work like Hawkeye helps fund his RennerVation Foundation, which supports foster care and at-risk youth. It was also reported that Marvel may have offered Renner only half his salary because they knew 'he'd turn them down so they wouldn't have to make a second season of the show.' As for Avengers: Doomsday ? Renner played it cool. He dodged questions about whether Clint Barton will make an appearance in Marvel's next big team-up film, and no official confirmation has been made. So for now, Hawkeye's quiver is still hanging on the wall, but Renner hasn't locked it away just yet.
