Abilene Southwest Rotary Club to Honor Top Students
ABILENE, Texas – The Abilene Southwest Rotary Club will host its annual Top 50+ Banquet on Thursday, May 15th, recognizing the top graduating high school students from across Taylor County for their academic achievements.
The event, which will be held at 6:30 pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Abilene, celebrates students who rank in the top 3% of their class. Honorees from Abilene ISD, Wylie ISD, and local private and charter schools are invited to attend, along with their parents and a teacher or mentor who played a key role in their academic journey.
The Top 50+ Banquet was established by the Rotary Club in 1960 to recognize academic excellence with the same enthusiasm often reserved for athletic achievement. Since then, the event has grown to include over 400 guests annually and is now a cornerstone of Abilene's educational recognition efforts.
The Rotary club believes that emphasizing education helps students better identify the scope of their world and prepares them for meaningful lives and promising careers.
In addition to honoring students, the banquet connects graduates with community leaders and professionals from a variety of industries. Donations exceeding event costs benefit local nonprofit organizations focused on youth education.
