BSF jawan gets hero's welcome in Dhanbad

1 2 Dhanbad : When BSF jawan Rajesh Kumar deboarded at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Gomoh railway station on Sunday morning, he was in for a surprise. Waiting at the station were officials of the Dhanbad district administration, police personnel and hundreds of locals. The crowd cheered for him with 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' slogans. Notes of traditional musical instruments filled the air as the town celebrated the return of its ' Operation Sindoor ' hero. A member of BSF's 120 battalion, Kumar sustained injuries during the heightened military exchange between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Unmindful of his wounds, Kumar put up a brave fight before being evacuated for medical care. He was admitted to the 166 military hospital at Satwari in Jammu and discharged on May 25. Topchanchi circle officer Sanjay Kumar Singh, inspector Rahul Jha, and RPF officials led the reception, garlanding the jawan and expressing gratitude for his bravery. The emotionally charged scene also moved passengers waiting at the station and many of them joined the celebrations. "It is a historic moment for us. I have never seen such a grand welcome for any soldier. This will be remembered forever," said Vinod Kumar, a vendor at the station. Calling jawan Kumar "a true inspiration for all", deputy commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan said, "He fought fearlessly. " Rajesh Kumar is on medical leave till July 2.
