BOARDMAN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Nira M. Robinette, 93 of Boardman, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Poland Village Assisted Living in Poland, Ohio. She was born on September 28, 1931, in Welsmar (Toronto), Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late James and Pansy Rae (Perrine) Black. Find obituaries from your high school Nira graduated from Toronto High School in 1950, where she met William Robinette. They later married in September 1953, enjoying nearly 70 years of marriage before William's passing in 2022. As a young woman, she began her career in the office at a power plant as well as a radio station. She subsequently pursued an associate's degree from Kent State University before moving into the field of education, teaching elementary level education in Mingo Junction and Alliance. She also worked in the administrative field for several doctors in the Youngstown area. Nira ultimately found her niche as the head secretary in the math and computer science department at Youngstown State University, where she dedicated nearly 20 years of service before retiring in 1996. Nira was a longtime member of Boardman United Methodist Church, where she and William enjoyed attending various Bible studies throughout the area sharing their love of the scriptures. She was also a longtime member of the Miriam Chapter of Eastern Star. Music was an extremely important part of Nira's life. She had a beautiful voice, singing in several choirs and enjoyed various genres of music. Her musical talents included playing the violin, piano. and organ. Nira played the violin in the Wheeling Symphony and also shared her love of music and playing the violin with those she taught. She loved her family with her whole heart, always putting their needs ahead of her own. She delighted in spending time with her granddaughters and being involved in all of their various activities. In her leisure time, Nira delighted in cooking for her family and tending to her garden. Her ability to write poetry was one of her cherished gifts, often sharing her beautifully crafted words with those around her. She will be deeply missed. Nira leaves behind, her children, Robin (Lori) Robinette of New Middletown, Ohio and Niralynn (David) Bullen of Frederick, Maryland; two granddaughters, Taylor (Morgan) Way and Aidan Robinette, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lenora (Warren) Mizer; beloved aunt, Esther Perrine and sister-in-law, Sandra (Robinette) Piff. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m., at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nira's name to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, 1300 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44510 Her family wishes to give thanks for the care given by SouthernCare Hospice, as well as the wonderful people at Poland Village Assisted Living.
