IK urges PTI supporters to get ready for ‘major movement': Aleema

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan has quoted his brother as saying that there is no room in the party for those playing on 'both sides of the wicket'. Talking to media outside the Adiala Jail after the hearing of the Toshakhana-II case against Khan and his wife Buhsra Bibi, she quoted Imran Khan as saying: 'PTI is an ideological movement, not a party for electables.' She said that Imran Khan's message to 'opportunists' within the party was clear: Get in line or else you have no future in PTI. She continued that many young and loyal party workers are languishing in jails yet those who are busy to cash in on the situation must keep in mind that the party is watching them. 'Imran Khan has plainly said that he is well aware of those playing on both sides of the wicket, and must know that their political theatrics will not work in the long run.' To a question about any deal with the establishment, Aleema Khan said Khan dismissed such speculations, saying he will get out of the jail through judicial process. He lambasted the YouTubers and the vloggers for spreading misleading narratives based on presumptions, she said. Aleema further stated that Khan has called on PTI supporters to prepare for a major political movement. 'This time, the movement will not be limited to Islamabad. It will be launched across the country.' Earlier, the special court hearing the Toshakhana-II case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, adjourned the proceedings after the defence counsel completed the cross-examination of a prosecution witness, till May 31. ‘Pointless; holds no real power': Imran Khan rejects talks with ‘puppet' govt, seeks dialogue only with military

File photo: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan (Picture credit: ANI) Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has ruled out any negotiations with Pakistan's civilian government, declaring that only talks with the country's military establishment are meaningful. In a post on X, Khan said, 'Engaging in any talks with the puppet Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is pointless. This illegitimate Form-47 installed government has already wasted two months. Its only objective is to cling to false authority. It holds no real power.' Khan, who has been behind bars since August 2023 in multiple cases following the collapse of his government in April 2022, stressed that negotiations would only be held with those who actually 'hold power', the military establishment, and only in the national interest. 'I do not fear hardship as my resolve remains strong,' he said, while alleging that political cases, abductions, and forced press conferences were being used to dismantle his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. 'All prove that the rule of law has been entirely dismantled. What we now have is the law of the jungle,' he added. Reiterating his stance from earlier this week, Khan stated that May 9, 2023, the day of violent protests after his arrest, was a 'false flag operation' designed to crush PTI. 'No CCTV footage has been presented to this day... The truth will be evident to all if the CCTV footage of that day is made public,' he added, as reported by news agency PTI. In a separate post, Khan also dismissed media reports suggesting that a deal was in the works with the military. 'No one has approached me for any negotiations. News claiming otherwise is entirely false,' he said, adding that despite harsh jail conditions, including denial of access to his children and physician, he remains steadfast. He recently took a swipe at Army chief General Asim Munir's promotion to Field Marshal, saying 'it might have been more fitting to give him the title of 'King' instead, because right now, the country is ruled by the law of the jungle. And in the jungle, there is only one king,' as per PTI. Meanwhile, the Punjab government said Khan has refused to undergo polygraph and voice analysis tests in 12 terrorism cases linked to the May 9 riots for the third consecutive time. Pakistani Punjab's information minister Azma Bokhari accused Khan of defying court orders, saying he made repeated excuses to avoid the tests. 'He must understand this is Adiala Jail, not his Bani Gala residence,' she said. The trial in the GHQ attack case, which was last heard in February, has been adjourned again until May 29. Separately, the hearing in the Toshakhana-II case was postponed to May 26. Khan's party has also urged the Islamabad High Court to speed up hearings in the Al-Qadir Trust case involving Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Protests continue outside the court, with party members demanding Khan's release and denouncing what they call 'unjust incarceration.'

Imran Khan takes a dig at Gen Munir: He should have given himself title of ‘King' instead of field marshal

The jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said Army chief Gen Asim Munir should have given himself the title of "king" instead of field marshal as Pakistan is currently governed by the "jungle law". Gen Munir was elevated to the rank of Field Marshal on Tuesday for his role in the recent conflict with India, becoming the second top military officer in the country's history to be promoted to this position. "MashaAllah, General Asim Munir has been made Field Marshal. Though frankly, it might have been more fitting to give him the title of 'King' instead — because right now, the country is ruled by the law of the jungle. And in the jungle, there is only one king," Khan stated on X. Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023 in numerous cases, also mentioned that rumours of a deal being made with him are not true, stating, "No deal has taken place, nor is any dialogue underway. These are baseless lies." However, he openly asked the military establishment to have discussion with him if it truly concerned about Pakistan's interests and future. 'The country is facing external threats, a surge in terrorism, and an economic crisis. We must unite. I have never asked for anything for myself before, nor will I now,' he asserted. Khan also warned the Shehbaz Sharif government about the possibility of another attack from India, urging them to be ready for any such eventuality. He added that Pakistan has become a country where the law is enforced only against the weak, while the powerful remain above it. "The ongoing situation reflects that the very spirit of democracy is being crushed. When you send the message that the bigger the thief, the higher the office they'll hold — you bury justice. The NAB still holds a case against (President) Asif Zardari's sister involving five apartments registered under employees' names. She is abroad, and no one dares question her. Shahbaz Sharif was accused in PKR 22-billion money laundering case, yet he was made Prime Minister," he mentioned. Khan further said that Pakistan's moral and constitutional framework has been completely annihilated over the past three years. "A farcical trial has been resumed in the Toshakhana-II case. Just like in prison, court proceedings are dictated by the will of a single colonel. My sisters and lawyers are being barred from court; my companions are not allowed to meet me; I am denied contact with my children for months; even my books are not delivered, and I am denied access to my physician. This is a continued violation of court orders and laws," he sated. He added that he had received information about drone attacks in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and instructed the provincial government to formally protest to the federal government and take urgent action to halt these drone strikes. "The killing of innocent civilians in drone attacks does not reduce terrorism as it only fuels it further. After years of struggle, we had succeeded in halting American drone operations in Pakistan. If you claim to be against terrorism, then do not drop bombs on the homes of your own people," he said.

He said Pakistan has been turned into a place where the law only applies to the weak, never the powerful. "The ongoing situation reflects that the very spirit of democracy is being crushed.
