Verizon's prepaid brands are battling for your attention with new price cuts and offers
Graduates heading off to new apartments or cities this summer have one less thing to stress about – staying connected. Total Wireless, backed by Verizon's 5G network, is making that part easy and affordable. Starting May 28, customers on any mobile plan from any of Verizon 's Value Brands – Total Wireless, Straight Talk Wireless, Tracfone, Simple Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile, Visible, or Verizon Prepaid – can snag a $15/month discount on Verizon Fios Home Internet when they bundle. That is up to $180 saved per year and if you stack it with Auto Pay, the savings jump to $300 annually. Total Wireless is also trying to sweeten the deal even more. It is offering up to $500 in credit to cover early termination fees when you switch from another provider. On top of that, if you bundle with its 5G Unlimited Plan or higher, you can get unlimited home internet for just $35/month with Auto Pay. No contracts, a five-year price lock and easy setup. And if you are moving into a new place and need gear, Total's also offering a home internet router for just $24.99 when you activate a new Total Wireless Home Internet plan. – David Kim, Chief Revenue Officer at Verizon Value, May 2025 This is just the latest push from Total to grab attention. Earlier this month, it made Verizon 's premium 5G network much cheaper for switchers – specifically targeting users from Metro and Cricket. And speaking of Metro, T-Mobile's prepaid wireless service provider isn't backing down either – it recently rolled out a full prepaid revamp with four new plans, new perks and a 5-year price lock of its own. So yeah, if you are trying to figure out which carrier gives you the best bang for your buck, now's a good time to dig into your help comparing? Check out our guides:

Motorola confirms delayed Razr (2025) launch at Verizon amid strange rumors
Motorola has officially confirmed a delay in the launch of its new Razr (2025) lineup at Verizon and several of its MVNOs, pushing back availability to May 22. The foldable phones were originally set to hit the shelves on May 15, but as Verizon quietly pulled listings from its website, speculation began circulating across forums and social explained the delay was implemented 'to ensure the best possible launch experience' for Verizon customers. The company says the devices will still arrive at Verizon , Visible, Straight Talk, and Total Wireless later this week, on May 22. The delay appears to be limited to Verizon and its affiliated carriers. Motorola's official online store, T-Mobile, and AT&T are not affected, although some orders may have also been canceled, according to scattered limited scope is an important detail here, especially as bizarre rumors began spreading online. On Reddit, users began speculating about a potential 'fire hazard,' citing anecdotes about returned shipments and delivery drivers refusing to complete deliveries. One now-deleted thread even alleged that Verizon had placed units in 'quarantine.'However, there is no credible evidence to support these claims. Verizon states that no Motorola Razr (2025) units were shipped to customers through its official channels before the pause. Only Total Wireless, an MVNO under Verizon 's umbrella, appears to have shipped out any devices. Even then, the company is still moving forward with a May 22 retail launch. Given that both Motorola and Verizon are standing by the current release schedule, it's highly unlikely that there is any major safety issues here. If there were, such a short delay would mean a substantial reputational risk, which neither company is likely to take. The new Razr Ultra is a stellar flip phone. | Image by PhoneArena Despite the official confirmation of the new date, neither company has offered specifics on what caused the disruption in the first place. Customers who pre-ordered from affected carriers are now seeing revised delivery dates, with some extending to May 28. As of now, Motorola has not issued any recall or product advisory, and the company continues to promote the Razr (2025) series as planned. We loved the new Razr Ultra and experienced no issues during our review, so we doubt there's anything of that sort to worry about. Whatever the issue is, it seems it wasn't serious enough to require a significant delay.

The new Moto Razr faces an unexpected delay at Verizon
Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Verizon, as well as MVNOs that use its network, have delayed the availability of the Motorola Razr to May 22. The original launch date of the Razr was May 15, and this delay only affects Verizon, as other carriers are not affected. There has been no official reason given for the delay. Fans of Motorola's iconic flip phone, the Razr, have been able to get the new 2025 model since May 15. At least, if you have a carrier that isn't Verizon, or any of its associated MVNOs. If you are a Verizon customer and still wondering why you're not able to get your hands on the new Moto Razr just yet, well, there's a reason for that, kind of. Verizon has confirmed that the Moto Razr is now launching on May 22, rather than the original launch date of May 15 like other carriers. This delay also applies to customers on Straight Talk, Visible, Total Wireless, and Verizon prepaid accounts. Previously, Verizon and the MVNOs had the Moto Razr listed for purchase beginning May 15, but they have all been removed as of now. If you search for Motorola phones on Verizon's site, you'll currently only see the Motorola Edge Plus and Moto G Play 2024. This was Verizon's statement on the delay: We adjusted the availability timeline of the new motorola razr to ensure the best possible launch experience for our customers. It will be available at Verizon, Straight Talk, Total Wireless and Visible on May 22. We also confirmed with Motorola that this delay is only affecting Verizon and its associated MVNOs. Other carriers, like T-Mobile and AT&T, and retailers are not affected by this delay, and you can still purchase an unlocked Moto Razr directly from Ryan Haines / Android Authority It's interesting to note that Verizon did not give an official reason behind the delay. But there are some stories circulating around on Reddit about this whole mystery. A now-deleted Reddit discussion claimed a Razr demo unit caught fire in a Verizon store. Stemming from that, it seems that pre-orders from Total Wireless customers have requests for return to sender or delivery drivers refusing to deliver packages. Someone claiming to be a Verizon employee also said that there has been a stop sale on the Razr and that they needed to quarantine them. Another customer who ordered their phone directly from Motorola had their order cancelled. Android Authority have asked both Verizon and Motorola about these reports, but neither have commented on these rumors. Verizon also stated to 9to5Google that it actually has not shipped any Razr devices to Verizon customers yet. It appears that only Total Wireless had shipped devices out to customers, which have ended up being returned to sender. So if you are a Verizon customer or use any of its MVNOs, then you have a few more days before you can expect to get a new Moto Razr, unfortunately. Thankfully, that's just a few days away. For example, right now you can get the Motorola Edge (2024) for free when you Switch to Total Wireless and sign up for the carrier's Total 5G or Total 5G+ plan. This is one the best cell phone deals I've seen this month and one of the best early Memorial Day sales. Even though it's not Motorola's flagship phone, the Motorola Edge 2024 still carries its weight with its performance, sleek design, gorgeous pOLED display, dual cameras, and speedy 68W TurboPower charging that will get it to a decent level in 30 minutes of charging. You can get it for free when you select a Total 5G or Total 5G+ plan and switch from a competing carrier. Total Wireless is one of the best prepaid phone plans we've tested. It's part of Verizon's portfolio of prepaid brands and we especially like it for its budget-friendly family plans. As for the Motorola Edge (2024), yes, it's an older phone, but it features a bevy of AI features, including a number of photo editing tools. It comes with a vibrant 6.6-inch pOLED display and 5,000 mAh battery capable of 68W of charging and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. Storage starts 256GB and it features 8GB of RAM.

Right now you can get the Motorola Razr 2025 for free: No long-term commitment required
Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Get a new Motorola Razr 2025 for free. The only catch? You'll need to pay for 3 months of Total upfront. After the 3 months are up, the Motorola Razr 2025 will be unlocked and can be taken to another carrier. The new Motorola Razr 2025 is almost here, officially launching later this week. It's already relatively affordable at $700, but what if you could get it for free? That's exactly what Total Wireless is offering right now. Even better, there is no long-term commitment required, unlike typical free phone deals from major carriers. So, what's the catch? Okay, you do need to technically make a commitment here, but it's only for 3 months! You'll have to sign up for a new 3-month Total 5G or 5G Plus plan and port your number over. Once the three months are up, not only can you stick with Total if you're happy, but your phone will automatically be unlocked, and so you're free to switch carriers if you prefer. Your upfront cost will depend on which plan you choose, but the base Total 5G plan comes to $152.60 total, or about $50.88 per month. Just note that this doesn't include taxes. All in all, this is a phenomenal deal. While we haven't published our full review of the Motorola Razr 2025 yet, our early impressions suggest it is very similar to its predecessor. That makes it a tougher sell at full price, especially with the Motorola Razr 2024 frequently on sale. But the fact that Total is offering the newer model for effectively free changes the equation entirely. For those needing a quick refresher: the Motorola Razr 2025 is a mid-range foldable powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7400X and equipped with 8GB of RAM. It also offers 256GB of storage, a 6.9-inch OLED main display, a 3.6-inch outer display, and a camera system consisting of a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide shooter. Rounding things out is a solid 4,500mAh battery. It's not going to outperform flagship phones with Snapdragon's top-tier chips, but it should offer a smooth, capable experience. Sure, it's not perfect,t but when you're getting a stylish foldable for free, it's hard to complain. Head over to Total Wireless to pick up the Razr 2025 for free now! Got a tip? Talk to us!
