‘Narivetta' box office collections day 12: Tovino starrer sees dip; mints Rs 46 lakhs
Tovino Thomas' thriller 'Narivetta', directed by Anuraj Manohar, appears to be losing its early momentum at the box office as it enters the second week of its theatrical run. According to the Sacnilk website, on Day 12 (June 3, 2025), the film earned Rs 46 lakhs across all languages in India, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 14.37 crore. After wrapping up week 1 with a solid Rs 9.9 crore, 'Narivetta' had a slight resurgence in its second weekend, collecting Rs 1.08 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.44 crore on Sunday. But the Monday blues hit again, and collections dropped sharply to Rs 68 lakhs on Day 11 and further to Rs 46 lakhs on Day 12. Occupancy rates On Tuesday (Day 12), the film recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 15.66%. The occupancy ranged from just 8.98% in morning shows to 20.88% in night shows. Despite the dip, the film still holds decent screens and may have a chance to extend its run modestly if word of mouth picks up again. What's next for the film? The reviews are coming in mixed for the Tovino starrer. Due to the same reason and also looking at the tough competition ahead, including Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's 'Thug Life' and Mohanlal's 'Chotta Mumbai' re-release, it would be hard for 'Narivetta' to sustain in theatres. Tovino Thomas' upcoming film Narivetta, which centers on a village's fight for their land and community, is set to hit screens on April 23. Ahead of the release, rapper Vedan and composer Jakes Bejoy have dropped a promo song titled 'Vaada Veda'. The hip-hop track's visuals and lyrics offer a glimpse into the film's powerful themes and narrative. Set against a dark backdrop of red and black, we see Vedan being hauled out of a police van, with his hands and feet in shackles. Other people in the van, including children, look to him in awe as chants from the background talk about a man who has surpassed their 'god and temples, a man with a majestic roar'. Vedan dives headfirst into the first verse as Bejoy's music walks hand in hand, in protest. The rapper talks about 'Khaki demons', presumably referring to police officers who have made their way into the jungle, on holy land. The song's narrative appears to trace the fate of the forest through the lives of the trees and the birds that inhabit it. That multi-layered conflict will be explored by director Anuraj Manohar through his protagonist, played by Tovino Thomas. As seen in the trailer, the junior police officer is torn between what he believes is right and what his duty entails. The narrative that was put forth in the trailer seems to be clearer now, and the song gives this story of revolution even more weight. The cast of the film also includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran, Arya Salim, and Priyamvada Krishnan.
