'Pace up front' & Hemming signing 'a must' - your transfer window priorities

We asked for your views on what St Mirren must do in the transfer window this what some of you said:Douglas: Certainly cover up front, with injuries and loss of form which are commonplace in that part of the team. At least one new face at the back is essential as Richard Taylor overall had a good season and he will be missed if we can't find an equal replacement. The loss of a left-footed midfielder will also be hard to fill, but we have reasonable cover there, however again injuries and age can catch up with you at any point in the season. Yes, a few new faces and permanent deals for a couple of last year's loanees will be We badly need a striker with pace to replace Toyosi We need a centre-half to replace Taylor. If we can't get Ryan Alebiosu signed then a right wing-back would be needed. Also some pace up front I think is important after Olusanya Signing Zach Hemming is a must. He made a huge difference when arriving in January last season and played a key role in us achieving top Saints should take Jadon Sancho on loan. We can make him great again. We have rebuilt other careers, so why not his? The Premiership gets bigger and stronger year on year, so why not make the call?David: We could do with another Olusanya. Someone that is a nuisance to defenders. We signed Owen Oseni in January but I'm not sure he fits the bill. A playmaker in the middle of the park, a solid defender to replace big Taylor and a goalkeeper. Fingers crossed we can get Hemming back. Alebiosu I would take back as well after a successful loan.A: Most of the squad is pretty settled. We could do with another centre-back to replace Richard Taylor, a midfielder to replace Caolan Boyd-Munce, a right wing-back and a speedy centre forward (one that could guarantee 20+ goals a season would be nice). Apart from that more competition for places would also be a bonus.

Dynamo acquire F Toyosi Olusanya from Scottish club

April 23 - The Houston Dynamo signed English striker Toyosi Olusanya through June 2026 with club options through 2028. The 27-year-old was acquired on Wednesday on a full transfer from Scottish side St. Mirren FC. "Toyosi is a dynamic goal scorer who adds more physicality and verticality to our attack," Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad said. "He will provide valuable depth at the forward position, especially as we enter the busiest stretch of our season. We welcome Toyosi to Houston and look forward to his contributions on and off the field." Olusanya tallied 14 goals and three assists in 67 matches (40 starts) with St. Mirren. Since making his professional debut in 2016, he has spent time with English clubs Middlesbrough, Billericay Town, Cheshunt, Gosport Borough, Fleet Town, Walton Casuals and others.

Toyosi Olusanya leaves St Mirren to join MLS side for six-figure sum

Toyosi Olusanya has left St Mirren to sign for MLS side Houston Dynamo. The forward makes the move across the Atlantic on a permanent deal after the Paisley club agreed a six-figure sum for his services. Olusanya, who joined the Saints from Middlesbrough in 2022, has scored eight goals in 31 league appearances this season. He also scored two in the early European qualifiers. His final strike for the club came in the win over Rangers at Ibrox in February. St Mirren confirmed the move on Wednesday. In a statement, manager Stephen Robinson said: 'Toyosi has deserved his move. 'It's something that has come out of the blue, but it's a fantastic opportunity for him. He's conducted himself so well since he's come to the club and proved what a good player and signing he's been. He deserves every success going forward. 'For the club to secure a six-figure fee with such a short time remaining on his contract is terrific business. It's credit to the football club and he leaves with our best wishes. 'He's a terrific person with a fantastic work ethic and is a great example to anyone coming in from non-league of where you can take yourself. We wish him and his family nothing but continued success.' St Mirren transfer genius as they land 200 grand for star man with weeks left on his contract

The 27-year-old flew out to the United States at the start of the week to finalise his move. Toyosi Olusanya has completed his medical and is expected to complete his Houston Dynamo move before the close of the Major League Soccer signing deadline. Record Sport broke the story last week that St Mirren had accepted a £200,000 bid from Dynamo for their striker. ‌ The 27-year-old flew out to the United States at the start of the week to finalise his move. Personal terms have been agreed and the club is down the road for a work visa. The deal is set to be rubber-stamped by MLS and then go through the Transfer Matching System before the American primary window closes tomorrow. It is a brilliant bit of business for the Buddies as their forward only had two months left on his contract and was expected to leave for nothing in the summer. This has been Olusanya's best campaign, as he has netted 12 goals for Stephen Robinson's side in all competitions. ‌ He moved from Middlesbrough on a free transfer in 2022.
