Cops bust Alstonia gang, seize drugs worth RM5.11 mln
SHAH ALAM: Police busted a drug trafficking syndicate known as the Alstonia Gang after arresting nine suspects, including a foreign woman, and seizing various types of drugs worth RM5.11 million in five separate raids around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on Tuesday (June 3). Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said among those arrested were the gang leader, a local man working as an e-hailing driver and his foreign lover, who are believed to have been actively carrying out drug trafficking activities for the past eight months. He said that in the first raid on a house in Bukit Jalil at about 5.50 pm, they nabbed a man and a foreign woman and seized MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) powder and juices suspected of containing drugs, each weighing 4,656 grammes and 3,000 millilitres. 'The second raid was conducted on a house in Semenyih and led to the arrest of a man and the seizure of powdery substances believed to be MDMA drugs weighing 230 grammes, followed by a third raid at 6.10 pm in Puchong where a male suspect was held and 966.10 grammes of ecstasy seized. 'At 10.30 pm, we conducted raid number four on a house in Kajang and arrested a man and seized 110 vape cartridges suspected of containing 2,880 grammes of drugs,' he told a media conference here today. Hussein said the suspect then led police to a house in Kajang, where they seized MDMA powder weighing 21,452 grammes, ketamine (4,722 grammes), ecstasy pills (641 grammes) and erimin 5 pills weighing an estimated 1,960 grammes. He said that following interrogation, police then arrested three men and a woman around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur who are believed to be involved with the syndicate. 'In addition to the syndicate leader and his lover, who has lived in the country for the past 10 years, seven other suspects, all aged between 24 and 38, worked as food traders, personal shoppers and barbers. 'Six of them tested positive for drugs and three tested negative, while three of them also had previous records related to crime and drugs,' he said. Hussein said the syndicate targeted entertainment centres around the Klang Valley to sell to individuals via face-to-face interaction and also online. He added that police also seized five vehicles - Proton Preve, Toyota Vios, Hyundai Sonata, BMW 320i and Honda Civic - jewellery, watches, LV-brand handbags and various cash denominations, with the total seizure amounting to RM341,449.16. 'This success is a result of the intelligence we carried out for two months and all suspects have been remanded for seven days, with the case being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,' he said.

Police detain man, seize 365kg of syabu worth over RM13 mln in Perlis
KANGAR (June 3): Perak police seized over 365 kilogrammes (kg) of syabu (methamphetamine) estimated to be worth RM13.14 million and detained a 40-year-old man at Kampung Belat Batu, Beseri near Padang Besar yesterday. Its police chief, Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said the drug seizure and arrest, based on information received, were carried out by a police team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), of the Perlis contingent police headquarters (IPK) at 3.30 am. He said before the arrest, the suspect was seen alighting from a Proton Waja car and heading towards another car, a Toyota Vios. 'The results of an inspection on the Toyota Vios car found 17 stitched bags containing drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, believed to have originated from Thailand,' he said at a press conference at the Perlis IPK here today. Muhammad said initial investigations found that the suspect is believed to have used a forest area in the Padang Besar district as a transit point before the drugs were sent to the southern part of the country, with the amount of the illicit substance being enough for 3.6 million addicts. He said the initial urine screening of the man found him positive for methamphetamine and he possessed past criminal records related to drug cases. 'The suspect has been remanded for seven days starting June 1 (yesterday) and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Police are tracking down another suspect who fled to assist in the investigation,' he said. Meanwhile, Muhammad also said that a 30-year-old Thai man was arrested by the police along with the seizure of two packages of compressed ganja (cannabis), weighing two kilogrammes, hidden in a garbage bin in the Taman Singgah Sana area, Padang Besar at 2.15 am yesterday. 'The drugs are estimated to be worth RM6,200 and can be used by around 20,000 addicts The suspect was also found to be positive for methamphetamine. The man was also remanded for seven days starting yesterday, and the investigation is being conducted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,' he added. – Bernama

Out-of-control Persona hits parked vehicles in Senawang
SEREMBAN: A technician was left counting his losses after two of his cars parked outside his home in Taman Bukit Seri Senawang were struck by an out-of-control vehicle early this morning. The 5.40am incident involved a Toyota Vios, a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Persona. District deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the Seremban traffic complaint counter received information about the crash at 8.48am. "Preliminary investigations found that the Proton Persona, driven by a 22-year-old man, was coming from the direction of a factory. "The man was on his way home in the same neighbourhood when he is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while avoiding an oncoming car," he said when contacted. Amrul said the out-of-control vehicle rammed into the two parked cars belonging to the resident. "All individuals involved have lodged police reports regarding the incident. The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59)," he added.
