Popular New Orleans Bar Is Officially Closing After 15 Years
A beloved Irish bar in New Orleans is officially closing its doors later this month.
Tracey's Irish Channel Bar has been located on Magazine Street for the past 15 years. It's best known for its po-boys and bar food, especially during crawfish season. While some businesses are about to heat up this summer, Tracey's has unfortunately been dealt too many hits to the point where it has no choice but to shut down.
The final blow was dealt in March when the 2025 Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade was canceled due to poor weather. That was expected to be the busiest day of the year for Tracey's.
Tracey's announced that it's final day will be on May 31. A heartbreaking statement was released earlier this month on Facebook.
"There's been plenty of ups and downs. More ups than downs. The last 2 years have been a roller coaster ride, more stops than starts. Now we announce that the last day for Tracey's will be May 31," the statement on social media read. "We can blame it on a series of unfortunate events. In the end, the cancelation of the IC St Pats parade was the final blow to a season we thought would help us recover from the slumps we experienced.
"We fought and fought, but we're out of 26 years we have served the Irish Channel. Friends and our team of dedicated employees became family. We succeeded in turning around 2 businesses before. We hate to let you down now. Our stories in this goodbye/love letter could go on and on and on and probably will, eventually. We close our doors with pride in our tradition of good times and laughs, Saints fanaticism, green beer and jello shots, roast beef po-boys, Buffalo wings and hamburgers."
Regulars at Tracey's Original Irish Channel Bar are understandably devastated by this decision.
With that said, New Orleans residents have less than two more weeks to grab a bite from Tracey's.
