Police inspector Subramani received a tip-off about a youth selling IPL tickets near Nachiketha Park playground in Vijayanagar for the May 17 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). PSI Mahesh Byakud and his team found Shankar trying to sell the tickets and a constable was sent as a decoy to purchase them. Suresh who reached the spot with 11 tickets was also detained. Both confessed that Venkatagiri and Ravichandra provided them with the tickets. A senior officer said, "We have written a letter to the firm in charge of selling tickets. We have served notice to both the constables to appear before the investigating officer to find out the source of the tickets." They went incommunicado while the touts were released on bail. City of Calgary prepares for a busy construction season ahead
The City of Calgary is launching a new, one-stop-shop website to help drivers navigate the ever-changing road closures on city streets. The Plan Your Trip portal gives Calgarians access to real-time traffic cameras, maps and estimated travel times to better plan the best route. On an average weekday, the city's road network sees 5.5 million daily trips with Calgarians traveling to work, school and out running errands. Those trips can be significantly impacted during construction season as unexpected lane closures pop up. Get daily National news Get the day's top news, political, economic, and current affairs headlines, delivered to your inbox once a day. Sign up for daily National newsletter Sign Up By providing your email address, you have read and agree to Global News' Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy The city's Traffic Management team acknowledges the delays and frustration construction causes Calgary drivers, but says the work is necessary, and points to the limited window of time to get it done given Calgary's weather. The Traffic Management Centre monitors 200 traffic cameras 24/7 and is able to act quickly if there is increased congestion, a collision or other unexpected issues slowing down traffic. Story continues below advertisement Those teams are able to remotely control traffic lights to relieve congestion when necessary and reprogram lights based on historical data to mitigate impacts. Although it may seem the lane closures are random and never ending, the traffic management centre says there is a lot of forethought that goes into approving a closure or detour, and crews take many factors into consideration including emergency vehicles that need to travel through the area, other detours in place, and will homes or businesses be affected. The ask is Calgarians find a little extra patience this construction season as crews work to complete the necessary road upgrades for a rapidly growing city.

Grim reality behind image of lost koala: 'The saddest photo I've seen in a long time'
It's a heart-wrenching sight that literally brought traffic to a halt — a lone koala walking through a three-lane tunnel, right in the path of a semi-trailer. CCTV captured the koala's journey through the Heysen Tunnels in Adelaide during the early hours of Monday morning. The Traffic Management Centre team acted quickly to close the left lane and reduce the speed limit to 40km/h, allowing the lost marsupial to safely find its way out. The image is a grim sign of the times as Australia's koala habitat continues to be destroyed. Viewers online described it as "the saddest photo I have seen in a long time". While the displaced koala managed to find its way out of the tunnel safely in this instance, it's not always the case. Native Aussie animal spotted 15,000km from home as campers have 'surreal' moment Aussies travellers push for major change to national park rules Warning over $96 million threat spilling onto our roads: 'Many don't know' Merrily Montarello, an experience volunteer with Adelaide-based organisation Koala Rescue Inc, previously told Yahoo News the animals are more vulnerable than ever. "We're moving into their habitat and their corridors, and they're being forced into suburbia," she said. "People are saying they haven't seen koalas before, but they've always been there. A lot of them are being hit by cars and there are a lot of dog attacks. It's really sad." In January, a report from the Australian Conservation Foundation found that the Albanese government approved more than 25,000 hectares of threatened species habitat to be destroyed in 2024. The Adelaide Hills, where the Heysen Tunnels are, is home to roughly 114,000 koalas. While their population is considered abundant, the region is also making way for new homes with 35 housing estates currently under development. Koalas are listed as endangered across NSW, ACT and Queensland. If you see a displaced koala in Adelaide you can contact Koala Rescue Inc on 0474 737 283 or 1300 KOALAZ on 1300 562 529.
