Time Capsule: 7-Mile 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition Preserved Since New at Big Boy Toy Auction
Read the full story on Modern Car Collector A remarkably preserved 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition, showing just 7 original miles, has emerged from decades of climate-controlled storage as one of the most significant untouched examples of Pontiac's muscle car legacy. Finished in silver with the iconic T-top roof, this limited-production Trans Am was originally delivered to Kitterman Motor Co. in Corydon, Indiana on March 28, 1979. Instead of heading to a customer, it was placed in the showroom—where it remained on static display for 32 years. The car became a local landmark, attracting enthusiasts and curious passersby alike as it sat untouched behind glass. When the dealership was liquidated in 2011, the car was relocated to a private, climate-controlled collection, where it has been meticulously maintained ever since. In the 46 years since it left the factory, it has accumulated just 6.9 actual miles, never having been registered for road use. This Trans Am is powered by the highly sought-after 400 cubic-inch Pontiac V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission—an increasingly rare combination for the final year of factory Pontiac big-block production. Additional features include air conditioning, power windows, power steering, and the full 10th Anniversary package, making it one of the most desirable Trans Ams ever produced. What sets this example apart even further is its complete documentation. Included are the original window sticker, delivery paperwork, dealer order acknowledgment, transport receipt, owner's manual, and more—forming a complete and unbroken pedigree. Now being offered for sale, this Trans Am represents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a showroom-new 1970s muscle car icon. For collectors, it is more than a vehicle—it is a time capsule, perfectly preserved from the golden era of American performance. See it here. The ANNUAL SPRING BIG BOY TOY AUCTION takes place indoors on May 2nd and 3rd at the resort in French Lick Indiana. To consign, please contact Josh Settles at josh.s@ There will be 500+ lots for sale including classic cars and automobilia. Many vehicles are selling at NO RESERVE. Register to bid today! Abandoned Pontiac Trans Am Discovered in Illinois Building After Owner's Death
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious A forgotten piece of American muscle car history has resurfaced in Illinois — buried under years of dust and decay. A newly purchased commercial building in Illinois has revealed an unexpected and neglected tenant: a 1974 Pontiac Trans Am. The car, found stripped and abandoned inside the structure, was discovered by the building's new owner during his first walkthrough of the property. The muscle car, once a symbol of V8-powered American performance, was reportedly left behind by its previous owner, who passed away while reportedly owing more than $50,000 in storage fees. By the time the car was uncovered, it had been reduced to a near-empty shell. According to a listing for the vehicle, the Trans Am's engine and many major components had already been removed, leaving just a handful of interior parts — including a pair of front seats, a gear shifter, and the original steering wheel. Dash gauges were missing entirely, and rust had begun to take a firm hold of the classic bodywork. Despite its deteriorated state, the vehicle is now for sale — with an asking price of $1,000. Though not likely to be roadworthy again, the shell may serve as a donor for other restoration projects or as a unique piece for collectors seeking hard-to-find Trans Am body panels. The 1974 Pontiac Trans Am came during a high point in Firebird sales. That model year saw over 10,000 Trans Ams sold, and more than 73,000 Firebirds overall. With optional engines like the 455-cubic-inch V8 pushing out over 300 horsepower, these cars remain among the most iconic from the golden era of American muscle. Pontiac's final Firebird rolled off the line in 2002, and the brand itself was shuttered in 2010. This recent discovery offers a glimpse back at a storied chapter in Detroit's performance history — now reduced to a quiet, rusting relic in a Midwestern building.

Trio of Rare Pontiac Trans Ams Poised to Make Waves at Annual Big Big Boy Toy Auction
Read the full story on Modern Car Collector Collectors and muscle car enthusiasts will have a rare opportunity to bid on three of the finest examples of Pontiac Trans Am heritage as they cross the auction block this weekend in Houston. Leading the trio is a virtually untouched 1979 Pontiac Trans Am T-top, a showroom survivor that has become something of a legend in Southern Indiana. Delivered new to Kitterman Motor Co. in Corydon, Indiana, the silver T-top coupe remained on display inside the dealership's showroom from March 28, 1979, until the business was liquidated on July 2, 2011. Since leaving the dealership, the car has been stored in a climate-controlled facility and has only 6.9 miles on the odometer. It retains all original documentation, including the window sticker and delivery records, and features the desirable Pontiac 400 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission and 10th Anniversary package. Joining it is a 1975 Pontiac Trans Am finished in white, showing just 9,700 miles and equipped with a manual transmission. Though less documented than its 1979 counterpart, this example offers pristine presentation and low mileage that is increasingly hard to find among mid-'70s Trans Ams. Completing the lineup is a fully restored 1973 Pontiac Trans Am finished in red and powered by a robust 455 cubic inch V8 producing 430 horsepower. It is backed by a Muncie M-20 four-speed manual transmission and power steering. One of just 4,802 built for the 1973 model year, this example has been comprehensively restored and represents an early and highly collectible iteration of the Trans Am legacy. All three cars are expected to draw significant interest from collectors eager to own a slice of American performance history. The ANNUAL SPRING BIG BOY TOY AUCTION takes place indoors on May 2nd and 3rd at the resort in French Lick Indiana. To consign, please contact Josh Settles at josh.s@ There will be over 400 lots for sale including classic cars and automobilia. Many vehicles are selling at NO RESERVE. Register to bid today! Tesla Drivers Surpass Ram As Worst In Country: Study
If there's one thing Tesla owners love, it's daydreaming about a time when their cars will ferry them from point A to point B without a single bit of driving in between. Unfortunately for us all, it seems those owners are doing that daydreaming behind the wheel as, according to a new study, they're the worst drivers in the U.S. of A. LendingTree, an insurer out of North Carolina, looked into insurance claims by brand for 2024 to see which automakers had the worst drivers. The insurer examined speeding tickets, citations, DUIs, and crashes, and found that all those factors added up to finger Tesla as the worst-driven brand. Tesla had 36.94 incidents per 1,000 drivers, beating out Ram in second place with 33.92 and Subaru in third with 32.85. The same ranking held true for accident rates, though not for DUIs — of all brands, Pontiac won out there, presumably due to a preponderance of Pit Viper-clad mullet-haired dudes with Keystone Light in the cupholders of their Trans Ams. Among current automakers, though, Tesla came in second for drunk drivers after BMW. LendingTree's analysis specified certain types of citations to count towards the worst driver championships, but oddly didn't specify whether it only accounted for at-fault collisions under the 'accidents' section of the study. That makes it unclear whether Tesla drivers are actually the worst, or whether every other driver on the streets is whipped into a frothing, violent anti-Musk rage upon seeing a Cybertruck out and about. The frothing rage is a given, really, it's just a matter of whether or not people act on it. It's interesting that two of the top three worst-driven automakers — Tesla and Subaru — make a lot of noise about how safe their vehicles are. One has to wonder whether these cars are driven poorly because drivers select cars based on advertised safety knowing they'll wreck sometime or another. Maybe they trust their cars more, or, perhaps, the reasons are entirely divergent: Maybe Tesla owners really are just relying on 'Full Self Driving,' and Subaru drivers are just distracted by all those dogs in the car. h/t InsideEVs For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

1973 Trans Am Restomod Rips Through The Streets Of L.A.
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious The second-generation Pontiac Firebird is one of America's favorite pony cars as it combines the power and performance that Pontiac was known for and the classic style of the 1970s. Of these beautiful machines, the Trans Am package is one of the most iconic appearances and performance packages in GM history. With an instantly recognizable name and good looks to match, these insane vehicles built an image for themselves as a rugged pioneer of American power that could take abuse from every direction and still beat the hell out of the competition in everything from drag racing to dirt track trials. This has led to the Trans Ams gaining a massive following which has since evolved with the ever-growing trend of resto-modding. Check out a rare Trans Am here. This car is the perfect example of that as it combines all of the great power gifted by a modern GM powerhouse with the vintage design of a 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Under the hood of this historic beast is a 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine which is pushing out an incredible 425 horsepower. That power is sent directly through an efficient Tremec six-speed manual transmission which makes driving this automotive masterpiece extremely fun for any car enthusiast. Handling this car is lovely; long gone are the days of muscle cars driving like gigantic land boats. This vehicle has a full Ride Tech suspension on all four corners, which means that controlling this car through tight turns and sharp corners is a breeze. Stopping power is provided by a set of Baer brakes, and the tastefully handcrafted blue leather interior keeps the driver stable and comfortable at all times. Of course, this all comes wrapped in a beautiful black package with an electrifying blue stripe that runs through the center of this car's roof and hood. That insane color combination is displayed throughout the entire car and makes this a car to be remembered for decades to come.
