HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) — The City of Hermitage has been named as the best place to retire in the Northeast for lower taxes and affordable housing.

Hermitage was noted for its 'small-town charm, historic sites and a county-wide median home value of $153,600.' Its proximity to Pittsburgh and Youngstown was also a key factor in addition to the outdoor recreation activities available at Buhl Park.
Access to tax-free retail shopping was also listed as an attractive of the city.
'Hermitage offers a rich quality of life, affordability, and abundant beauty, not only to retirees but also for working families and people at all stages of life,' said Duane Piccirilli, president of the Hermitage Board of Commissioners, in a news release. 'We believe our community is a special place that is very attractive to residents and visitors alike, and the Travel & Leisure selection affirms that view.'
Coming in second and third were also Pennsylvanian cities Johnstown and Altoona.
