New kiosk at Quinnipiac University designed to teach CPR
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A machine now on the Quinnipiac University campus in North Haven is designed to save lives by teaching more people how to do CPR. 'Over 350,000 cardiac arrests happen each year,' Connecticut Executive Director of the American Heart Association Adria Giordano said. 'Ninety percent of them happen outside of a hospital. This kiosk can help change these statistics.' Lifesaving techniques for National CPR Awareness Week The kiosk is now in the lobby of Quinnipiac University's law school. It was developed by the American Heart Association as a hands-on interactive way to learn the four major skills of CPR. 'It's hand placement, it's compression depth, compression rate and recoil, and it teaches each of these in a different module, and at the end of the module, you get to practice,' Carolyn Martindale of Hartford HealthCare said. Eleanora Marrone was the first Quinnipiac employee to try it out. 'It was actually very difficult. You actually have to put your whole weight into it. Not just your dominant hand,' Marrone said. 'It's about going to the beat and putting your whole force and weight into it.' Hartford HealthCare brought the kiosk to Connecticut about a year ago. So far, they've reached more than 5,000 people at community centers, colleges, and other high traffic public events. Anything to get people to try it. 'Many people are afraid to do CPR because they're not knowledgeable, they think they might hurt someone, or they just don't want to do it,' Martindale said. 'So, we are trying to make more people comfortable by learning how to do this is a non-threatening situation.' Even though it's in the Quinnipiac University School of Law, the kiosk is in the lobby, so anyone can walk in and use it. Just drive around to the back of the North Haven campus and park in the garage. It will be there until the Travelers Championship later this month, because the machine will be at TPC River Highlands for that. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. RBC Canadian Open 2025: Rory McIlroy headlines full field at TPC Toronto
Rory McIlroy headlines the field at next week's RBC Canadian Open, which will be contested at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Ontario. McIlroy skipped the signature event Memorial Tournament, opting for a three-week run of: RBC Canadian, U.S. Open and Travelers Championship (final signature event of the season). The world No. 2 has twice before won this event, in 2019 and 2022. He tied for ninth in 2023 and tied for fourth last year. Those four starts have stretched over three different venues; TPC Toronto will be a fourth. Here's a look at the initial field for Canada's national open, which includes a couple of debuts: Established in 1904, the RBC Canadian Open is the second-oldest non-major on the PGA TOUR schedule behind the BMW Championship (1899). TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course) is just the eighth venue since 1977 to host the RBC Canadian Open, with World No. 2 and two-time…

Rory McIlroy to skip third PGA Tour signature event as he opts out of prestigious tournament
The event, which is annually hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Village, is due to begin on May 29 but McIlroy will not be in attendance. The Masters champion, who finished 47th at last week's US PGA Championship and refused to speak to the media throughout over a controversy surrounding the eligibility of his driver, has also skipped The Sentry and RBC Heritage earlier this year. As it stands, McIlroy is also not down to play in the final signature event of the year, the Travelers Championship which begins on June 19, although that could change. The World No.2 said earlier this year that he was looking to cut down on his schedule and has followed through by skipping the signature events, and he is currently not due to play until the RBC Canadian Open which begins on June 5, the week before the year's third Major, the US Open at Oakmont. Earlier this week it was confirmed he will tee it up at the DP World Indian Championship in October, the first time he has competed in the country, as well as returning to the Australian Open in December. McIlroy's absence from the signature events is a blow for the PGA Tour who, in creating the limited field tournaments with boosted prize funds, marketed them as a chance for fans to see the best players in their stable competing in the same weeks outside of Majors. However, they have frequently been skipped by the top players since their inception, with World No.1 and PGA champion Scottie Scheffler having regularly not played in them as well.

Memorial Tournament 2025 field: Rory McIlroy skipping Jack Nicklaus' signature event
Rory McIlroy is skipping the Memorial Tournament, which will take place May 29-June 1 at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, for the first time in eight years. Competing likely would have meant four consecutive starts for the Masters champion as he is expected the play the following three weeks, including the Canadian Open, U.S. Open and Travelers Championship. Advertisement World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will return to Jack's Place to defend his title in the seventh of eight signature events on Tour this season (Travelers being No. 8). Jack Nicklaus is the tournament host and will welcome a field of 72 players, which will be finalized after the Charles Schwab Challenge. Here's a look at the initial field as of the Friday entry deadline:

Si Woo Kim's Unexpected Behavior at PGA Championship is Turning Heads
In the second men's major of the year, the 107th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, has presented golfers with one of the sternest tests on the 2025 calendar. The par-71 layout stretches 7,626 yards, with its closing holes dubbed the 'Green Mile' for the trio of long, hazard-lined finishing holes that have already humbled many competitors this week. Advertisement On Thursday, Jhonattan Vegas set the early standard with a 7-under-par 64 to take a two-stroke lead after the opening round. By contrast, 29-year-old Si Woo Kim found the opening 12 holes in Charlotte somewhat taxing. Sitting at 1-over-par through that stretch, Kim briefly halted play on Thursday afternoon with an unconventional form of stress relief: he was caught on camera taking a drag of a cigarette while walking onto the next tee box. Kim said that the reason why he was smoking on course was because he was "Getting old and stressed", per Fore Play on X. The clip went viral across social feeds, prompting instant reactions from fans. Advertisement One fan commented, "Of course," and another commenter said, "drained one on 6!" One user said, "This is actually insane lmao," to which another responded, "Nah John Daly was legend 😂". Similarly, another user commented, "Is that allowed?" and one other fan fired back, "Do you know who John Daly is?". Si Woo Kim at the Travelers Championship golf tournament. Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports Kim bypassed university golf at Yonsei University to join the professional ranks in 2012, becoming the youngest player to graduate from the PGA Tour's qualifying school. He broke through on the Tour with the 2015 Stonebrae Classic before going on to secure the 2016 Wyndham Championship and the 2017 Players Championship, becoming the youngest ever winner at age 21. Advertisement Kim's best major finish came at the Masters (T12 in 2021), with solid showings including T13 at the PGA Championship in 2020 and T15 at The Open in 2022. As the weekend unfolds at Quail Hollow, Kim now sits just a handful of strokes off the lead. Related: CBS Makes Major Announcement After Rory McIlroy's Historic Win At The Masters
