Chicago tourist wins over $3.1 million after buying Illinois Lottery FastPlay ticket
A Chicago tourist has won over $3.1 million after buying a FastPlay lottery near O'Hare Airport. The winner, nicknamed "Traveling Treasure," bought an Ultimate Diamond Jackpot FastPlay game at Komal Wine and Liquors at 4628 N. Cumberland Ave. and hit the jackpot worth $3,188,104. He recalled the moment he froze after realizing that he won the prize. "Before heading back to my hotel one evening, I stopped at a nearby convenience store," he said. "I noticed the Ultimate Diamond Jackpot game had a pretty high prize amount at the time, so I decided to try my luck and bought a ticket. When I got back to the hotel and checked it, I saw that I'd won the jackpot. The winner says he plans on buying a house, and the prize "couldn't have come at a better time." For selling the winning ticket, Komal Wine and Liquor will receive a one percent bonus of the prize amount, just over $31,000. The Ultimate Diamond Jackpot is an Illinois Lottery FastPlay progressive jackpot game. It begins at $75,000 and grows with each ticket sold statewide, in-store and online, until there's a winner. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to play.

Norridge Park District hosts egg hunt, ‘bonanza' family visits with Easter bunny
A crowd of over 500 participants took part in the annual 'bonanza' of Easter events hosted by the Norridge Park District, including more than 400 who hunted for colorful treat-filled plastic eggs. The day started with kids – of various ages – searching the park for eggs. Then there was the 'Bunny Bonanza' where families visited with the Easter bunny. Organizers called the attendance and family fun at the April 12 event 'incredible.' 'The feedback we receive is always overwhelmingly positive. Parents often express their appreciation for how smoothly everything runs, and this year they were especially excited about the addition of Traveling Tom's Coffee Truck — it was a big hit and something new we tried!' Brian Kucharski, of the Norridge Park District, told Pioneer Press in an email. He explained that both the Bunny Bonanza and the Easter Egg Hunt are annual events for the Park District, and they are usually held the Saturday before Easter. The events are highly anticipated each year, he stated. For the Park District, Kucharski explained, the Easter evans are more than just activities, but also an opportunity for families to get together and make memories. He said the community response each year offers a reminder to Park District staff and volunteers of why they do their work. 'But honestly, the best feedback of all is seeing the kids' smiles. That kind of joy speaks louder than words,' he wrote.
