City 90 minutes from Birmingham named among top 10 friendliest in the world
A UK city only a short distance from the Midlands has been named among the top 10 most welcoming in the world. Travel site has released its list of the friendliest cities for 2025, and singled out a cathedral city known for its Roman ruins and cobbled streets for praise. Chester was named as the most welcoming in the UK, and among the best in the world. The website hailed Chester as an "historic gem", home to a "captivating blend of Roman, medieval, and Tudor architecture, all nestled within well-preserved city walls", Express reports. The rich history greets visitors, with the Roman amphitheatre in the heart of the city centre. The site explained destinations were listed based on "the total share of Traveller Review Award 2025 recipients when compared to the total amount of eligible properties in that city (accommodation only)." They also needed to have an above-average amount of winners (200 award recipients or higher for cities) to make the list, while also considered geographic spread. Oxfordshire hotel wins 'Traveller Review Award 2025'
An Oxfordshire hotel has won a prestigious award. Greenlands Hotel, located within the Henley Business School estate, has won the 'Traveller Review Award 2025' from The award recognises establishments that go above and beyond for their guests, based on feedback from visitors. The hotel achieved an average review score of 8.8 out of 10, based on 823 reviews, a testament to its consistent excellence in cleanliness, comfort, facilities, and customer service. The hotel offers 100 ensuite bedrooms, including family and accessible rooms, all with the same facilities. It is set within a Grade II listed building, with a restaurant, bar, and gym that provides views of the River Thames. A review from last month (January 2025) scored the hotel ten out of ten and wrote: 'A beautiful and very relaxing luxury hotel shown in the thoughtful, caring, relaxed attention to detail of the wonderful team, the clever, comfortable interior design interpretations of the Welsh-crafts, history and traditions, and in the delicious cuisine: 'It is exceptional in absolutely every sense of the word and an incredibly relaxing and inspiring place for the mind and soul. Very quiet and peaceful with stunning views.' Another review from last month gave scored nine out of ten and posted: 'Staff were helpful. knowledgeable and very friendly... all staff knew us by name and were attentive.' Meanwhile, on Tripadvisor, Grove of Narberth has over 2000 reviews and an average rating of five stars out of five. One review from this month (February 2025) said: 'Absolutely gorgeous hotel.
