Weather may not be a factor in Los Angeles, but delays reared their head at UCLA and UTSA's super regional all the same.
In Game 2 Sunday, the Bruins and Roadrunners underwent a lengthy delay when home plate umpire Eric Goshay took a ricocheted foul ball off the mask and had to exit. Second base umpire Travis Carlson took over after a nearly 15-minute delay at Jackie Robinson Stadium, and play resumed after he was properly suited up.
The change came in the bottom of the eighth inning. UCLA took a 4-0 lead into the frame, and was changing pitchers when the delay occurred.
UCLA came into June 8's game with a 1-0 lead in the series, one win away from its first College World Series appearance since its 2013 championship.
