There were 31 of 32 selections that needed to be made. Of the 32 teams in the NFL, only 19 of those franchises had options to exercise due to selecting the player in the 2022 draft or by trading for one of the 32 selections. Players who did not get their fifth-year club option picked up will become unrestricted free agents following the 2025 season. What is a fifth-year option? Per the collective bargaining agreement that was signed in 2020, teams can opt to exercise a fifth-year option on all rookie contracts for players selected in the fourth round. All other rookie contracts are four-year deals. The fifth-year option is a fully guaranteed contract based on four tiers per Over The Cap: Basic, playtime, a Pro Bowl selection, or multiple Pro Bowl selections. Lloyd is coming off a season where was a very sound tackler, making 106 of his 111 attempts, according to PFF, which resulted in him being a reliable run defender as well. Among eligible linebackers, Lloyd ranked ninth in run defense grade. In coverage, that sound tackling ability helped Lloyd limit yards after the catch and he also recorded one pass breakup and an interception. Given Lloyd's position and skill set, he is someone who could benefit greatly this season from the addition of Anthony Campanile as the new Jaguars' defensive coordinator.
