Section of major road closed after crash
A main road connecting Derby and Nottingham has been shut following a collision. The A52 eastbound was closed at about 06:15 BST on Monday following a crash involving two vehicles, one of which is a lorry, according to National Highways. Queueing traffic is reported from the M1 Junction 25 at Sandiacre to the Bardills Roundabout in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said no injuries had been reported. National Highways said it was managing diversions with "strategic closures" on the approach while all emergency services were working at the scene. Main road closed due to bust water main
A main road in Derby has been shut due to a burst water pipe. The A52 Ashbourne Road is closed both ways from Markeaton Lane to Markeaton Island after a water main burst, according to the AA. Severn Trent said it was alerted to the burst shortly before 05:00 BST and apologised for any disruption caused. The water company added their crews were working as "quickly as they can" to carry out a "complicated repair". Trent Barton said on social media buses had been diverted and were missing stops on Markeaton Park, Markeaton Hill, Prince Charles Avenue, Vauxhall Avenue and Markeaton Lane. A spokesperson for Severn Trent added: "No customers are currently off supply, but some may experience lower pressure than normal as we work to get things back to normal as soon as possible and we would urge drivers to find alternative routes where possible." City roads closed due to suspicious package
A number of roads have been shut in Nottingham city centre while police deal with a suspicious package. Nottinghamshire Police said it had put "multiple road closures" in force around Old Market Square on Tuesday morning. A spokesperson said the package had "been made safe", but the closures remained in place for "investigation work". Old Market Square, Long Row, Friar Lane, Wheeler Gate, King Street, Queen Street, Market Street, Exchange Walk, Parliament Street, South Sherwood Street, Maid Marian Way and Tollhouse Lane are all closed, the force said. Nottingham Express Transit said trams were unable to run between Royal Centre and its Toton and Clifton destinations due to a "police incident". Nottingham City Transport said its bus routes were also affected while Trent Barton said services would terminate outside of the cordons on Mount Road and at Broad Marsh Bus Station, and asked passengers to "allow extra time".
