Urgent recall issued on popular baby story book due to illness hazard

An urgent recall has been issued on a popular story book for babies over safety fears. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) announced on Thursday that Hodder & Stoughton Limited T/A Hachette Children's Group is carrying out a recall of First Baby Days: Bath Time, Bath Book. The risk reported to the CCPC is ingestion of flakes and ink. The colour coating of the product can begin to come away from the surface in water, causing flaking. These soft ink flakes may then be ingested. The ISBN of the product being pulled from shelves is ISBN-13: 9781526381354 and the batch number is 7th Impression/10 9 8 7. According to the CCPC, there are approximately 14 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The product was sold in Dubray Books and Hodges Figgis' and was available since January 2025. "Customers should stop using the product immediately and return it to the store where they bought it, for a full refund," the CCPC said in a statement. "If you do not know the retailer or have any questions, please contact the Hachette Children's Group Customer Services team on 01235 759555 or at hukdcustomerservices@ for assistance." Meanwhile, a separate recall notice has been issued on a popular children's swing amid fears that a child could become 'trapped' and suffer serious injuries. The CCPC confirmed on Thursday that KBT NV has issued a recall on its TriX Plastic swing after a safety issue was identified with the product. According to the CCPC, the risk presented by this product is injuries. Specifically, the product has accessible openings and holes, in which "a child can become trapped and suffer injuries". The brand is TriX and the The type/model number of the affected product is 132.001.007.003, while the barcode is 5413050048123. The CCPC said there are approximately 166 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. The retailers of this product are: Customers who have bought an affected product have been urged to stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
