Media City Qatar, RCD Media host masterclasses with Oscar-winning filmmaker
Tribune News Network Doha Media City Qatar supported a sold-out masterclass organised by RCD Media, one of its licensed companies. The two-day event brought acclaimed French-Iranian filmmaker and two-time Academy Award winner Asghar Farhadi to Qatar. Held on May 27 and 28, the masterclass welcomed 60 attendees from across the country's creative and filmmaking community. Farhadi, an Academy Award winner whose films have also earned the Golden Bear in Berlin and the Grand Prix at Cannes, is internationally known for A Separation (2011) and The Salesman (2016). He is widely regarded for his ability to craft emotionally layered stories that explore moral conflict and social complexity. His presence in Qatar marks a significant moment for the local film scene, offering emerging talent direct insight into the craft of one of the most influential contemporary directors. The masterclass reflects Media City Qatar's ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of content creators and emerging talent, in alignment with its mandate to advance the country's production sector and creative economy.

Media City Qatar, Microsoft join hands to accelerate innovation in media and creative technology
Tribune News Network Doha Media City Qatar and Microsoft Qatar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance digital innovation in Qatar's media and creative technology sectors. The agreement, formalised on Day 2 of the 2025 'Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg', outlines a shared vision to strengthen media entrepreneurship and drive collaboration on training, mentorship, and startup advancement. The collaboration will leverage the upcoming strategic initiative of Media City Qatar, 'Media Innovation Lab', to enable technology access, deliver upskilling and training programmes, and provide mentorship opportunities and support for startupsand SMEs. It also includes cooperation on innovation challenges, joint research and development (R&D) initiatives, and co-branded events aimed at accelerating Qatar's creative economy. Microsoft Qatar will also support the development of Media City Qatar's unified digital platform and explore further opportunities to enable local media startups through shared events, marketing campaigns, and public relations activities. Eng Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar, said: 'This collaboration with Microsoft reflects our shared belief in the power of technology to shape what comes next forthe media sector. At Media City Qatar, we are committed to supporting the next generation of media and technology talent through innovation, training, and entrepreneurship.
