Jackson Page earned more than Ronnie O'Sullivan at the World Snooker Championship, despite failing to qualify for the finals.
After beating Allan Taylor 10-2 in his opening qualifier, the 23-year-old from Ebbw Vale saw his hopes of competing at the tournament dashed when he suffered a 10-7 loss to Joe O'Connor. And while he missed out on glory at the Crucible relatively early on, it didn't prevent him from bolstering his bank balance from one of snooker's biggest calendar events.
That's because two maximum 147 breaks during his game against Taylor granted him a substantial £147,000 Triple Crown Bonus from the World Snooker Tour. The Welshman achieved his first 147 during the eighth frame of his match, before clinching his second in the next session.
Speaking of his feat with BBC 5 Live Drive, he said: "I'm over the moon. It's a bizarre sort of feeling really. I knew the bonus was up for grabs [for the second 147], so I went for it from the first ball and managed to make it happen.
"I felt the same way as I did winning matches and in the deep end of tournaments, the same sort of pressure. As soon as the 15th black went in and I was on the yellow, I knew it was going to happen." Page's first 147 of the tournament also marked the first time that 'Action' had ever landed a maximum break since turning pro in 2019.
The bonus was introduced by the WST in 2023, and is awarded to any player who makes two maximum breaks during the season's Triple Crown Series. It can be awarded up to three times for a total of £441,000, meaning that the same player can walk away from the series with just shy of half a million pounds for hitting six in total.

And Page admitted that the £147K bonus would certainly help as he has a three-month-old son and has just bought a home. Meanwhile, Page also achieved more for his bonus alone than seven-time champion O'Sullivan made for his semi-final appearance at the Crucible this year.

The Rocket blazed through stiff competition in Ali Carter, Pang Junxu, and Si Jiahui to make it to the final four of the tournament, where saw his dreams of an eighth world title dashed by ultimate tournament winner, Zhao Xintong with a 17-7 loss.

O'Sullivan and Judd Trump both crashed out in the semi-final stage, meaning they were awarded a modest payday of £100,000. That is some £47,000 less than Page who didn't make it to the Crucible whatsoever.
Zhao became the first Asian player to taste World Championship glory on Monday when he bested Mark Williams - whom Page is a frequent training partner of - at the Crucible in thrilling fashion. The 28-year-old was awarded £500,000 for his 18-12 victory, capping off a stellar tournament run of 111 frames won from nine games over the course of 29 days, including the qualifiers.
Speaking after his win, Zhao told the BBC: "This is like a dream. I can't believe it. There was big pressure and big nerves. I knew if I missed he could come back quickly. I was so nervous tonight. Mark is still a top player and put me under so much pressure. He's the best."
