However, Ben has been unable to obtain a visa to join his partner in the UK, meaning they have to close the business. This is despite Lacuna Brewery seeing growth and increasing success. Ben told The Packet: 'Needless to say, it's a heart-breaking outcome to so many years hard work and dedication. 'We would like to thank all the amazing local businesses that have supported us over the years. "Their championing of quality local beer has been incredible, along with their awareness in the importance of supporting small, local and independent businesses." He added: "The community that has developed has been heart-warming, and we will miss our many new friends." While the business is set to close, the brewery will remain for sale in-situ until the end of July. The current owners are therefore hoping some else will take on Lacuna, or at least their company's equipment. Ben said: 'It's a high-quality set-up in a fantastic location, and we believe it could be an exciting opportunity for a local team." In an announcement posted to Facebook about the closure, Lacuna Brewing Co wrote: "Things change and sadly our head brewer is going to be moving back to Mallorca to be with his partner. "This has created a fantastic opportunity for a new team to step in and take Lacuna forward in their own direction," urging people potentially interested to come forward. It added: "While we work on these details we will continue to deliver our fantastic beers to all our lovely customers." Closure of Lacuna Brewey comes after a number of other independent taprooms have been forced to shut down around the UK this year. One of those is High Hill Tap in London, which had to close due to a four-year long dispute with the council in March. Last year, the Italian owners of ORA Brewing also had to close down their business due to financial challenges.
