Seaside School expands with new dual enrollment and job training campus

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Seaside Walton County School is nearing completion of their campus expansion. Back in December, Seacoast Collegiate High School secured a $9.5 million grant proposal from Triumph Gulf Coast. The grant will allow the school to expand its campus and offer more post-secondary programs and certificates to high school students. In partnership with Northwest Florida State College, the school will have a new dual enrollment and workforce training campus. Once complete, the facility will serve more than 500 high school and dual enrollment students annually, including an additional 250-plus college students from across the county who would otherwise face barriers to higher education. The campus is set to open in August 2025. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Triumph Gulf Coast approves program to further Northwest Florida's economic diversification

NORTHWEST FLORIDA (WKRG) — Triumph Gulf Coast has approved a project to further Northwest Florida's economic diversification. Dauphin Island Race returns for 65th year The project, United FORWARD, will include economic development strategies, marketing research, promotional campaign development and implementing the region's 'most strategically focused multi-channel Market Activation Plan' for economic development, according to the Florida Great Northwest news release. Triumph is a non-profit organization that oversees 75% of funding by the Florida attorney general for the economic damages from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill — granting the United FORWARD project $4.77 million over the next five years. 'This grant was approved just three days after the 15th anniversary of the oil spill,' FGNW President and CEO Jennifer Conoley said. 'United FORWARD will be game-changing for Northwest Florida's business brand as we continue to shift perceptions, encouraging people to go beyond our stunning sugar-white sand beaches and learn about the dynamic business destination that is undergoing a significant transformation.' Local economic projects pursue Triumph Gulf Coast funding

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Walton County Commission Chambers Annex was filled with anticipation Wednesday as community leaders and stakeholders gathered to see which economic development projects would secure approval for Triumph Gulf Coast funding. 'We brought three projects to the board for consideration in Bay County,' said CEO of Bay EDA Becca Hardin. 'Two are related to aviation, and one is tied to port expansion. There's a lot of momentum in our region right now.' The first project to receive approval was Project Clear, a commercial and residential glass company planning to expand its operations to the Port of Panama City. The company is requesting up to $3.7 million in grant funding to support the move. 'They're currently at capacity at their existing facility,' Hardin explained. 'They already use our port to import raw materials from Mexico, and they've been looking to expand. Fortunately, we found a suitable building—ironically, one owned by the Bay County Commission.' Also moving forward is Project Spinner, a major aviation initiative with a three-part expansion plan. The company recently acquired a building in the City of Lynn Haven and is set to build an engine maintenance center at the local airport. In addition, they will invest $70 million into a cutting-edge engine testing facility, also at the airport. The project is expected to create 500 jobs and represents a $107 million capital investment, making it one of the largest projects ever announced in partnership with the Bay County Airport Authority. Rounding out the approvals, Florida's Great Northwest strategic plan, United Forward, is advancing to the next stage. 'This is a two-pronged approach to economic development and market activation,' said Florida's Great Northwest CEO Jennifer Connelly. Over five years, we'll see $4.7 million invested in amplifying Northwest Florida's business brand. It's a transformative step forward for our region's economic strategy.'
