International trophy exhibits in York ahead of summer tournament
The women's rugby world cup trophy will be displayed in York again tomorrow (Image: Alice Kavanagh) A TROPHY celebrating the best in international sport has been displayed in York city centre today (June 1). The Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 trophy has been exhibited on Parliament Street today as part of a nationwide three-week tour, giving rugby fans the chance to look at the trophy up close ahead of the summer's tournament. Advertisement A specially branded Land Rover Defender has been branded to show off the trophy with a pink carpet leading up to the back for those who want to take a closer look. RECOMMENDED READING: Georgie Heath, a member of the team exhibiting the trophy, shared that the reception that they'd had so far had been positive. She said: 'We're showing the whole community what's amazing about women's rugby and that they can go to some the games this summer. 'We've had such a great reception – quite a lot of people already have tickets to see some of the matches. We've had lots of kids, dogs, and it's so nice just seeing how excited everyone is for it to come to York this summer.' Advertisement Residents can see the trophy again between 10am and 3pm tomorrow (June 2) before it is transported to York Rugby Club where it will be available, from 6pm, for local sports teams and organisations to see. After this, it will move to its final stop on its nationwide tour in Sunderland. Councillor Pete Kilbane, executive member for economy and culture, said: "We're thrilled to be hosting several exciting games as part of the Women's Rugby World Cup later this summer. See the Women's Rugby World Cup trophy up close this Sunday and Monday
The newly-revealed Women's Rugby World Cup trophy will be available to view in York this Sunday (June 1) and coming Monday (June 2) as part of a special 'Trophy Tour.' A specially-branded Land Rover Defender will transport the trophy into the city for public viewing over the two days, when it will be displayed in Parliament Square. On the evening of the Monday, the trophy will be transported to York Rugby Club, where it will be available, from 6pm, for local sports teams and organisations to see. Seeb, Al Shabab in intense preparation for HM Cup final
MUSCAT: Al Shabab, who are seeking for their historic maiden title, and four-time winners Seeb are undergoing intensive warming-up sessions for the title showdown of the His Majesty's Cup football championship which is scheduled on Thursday at Ibra Sports Complex. The match will kick off at 7 pm. Al Shabab began their final warm-up sessions at their home ground in Barka, with the presence of several officials from the wilayats of Barka and Wadi Al Maawil. The team travelled to Ibra on Tuesday, two days ahead of the final, to complete their last preparations. The Al Batinah South-based side is eager to end their season on a high note. Seeb players attend a training session. Head coach Hassan Rustam sees this as a golden opportunity for his team, knowing they are just one step away from a historic triumph. The squad is expected to put in a determined effort to achieve their dream title. Seeb Club began their final preparations on Monday, gearing up for the decisive match against Al Shabab. Serbian head coach Nikola Djurovic is focused on ending his team's journey in the tournament with success. The Muscat-based team conducted their last training sessions at their headquarters in Al Khoudh, focusing on both physical conditioning and tactical strategies. The Oman Football Association (OFA) announced the seating allocation for the final. Both Seeb and Al Shabab fans will be allocated 40 per cent each of the stadium's capacity, while 20 per cent of the seats are reserved for spectators from Al Sharqiyah North Governorate. To enhance the matchday experience, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, OFA and the Al Sharqiyah North Governorate office have organised an entertainment zone in Ibra. The fan city included different corners including: Trophy corner, Youth space, E-Games section, Photography zone, Kids' area and Heritage musical performances. Another event was the Trophy Tour which began on Friday in the Wilayat Al Qabil and will conclude on matchday in Ibra. On Sunday, the trophy reached Al Mudhaibi, where it was warmly welcomed, followed by a stop in Sinaw on Monday. The tour has sparked excitement among fans, adding to the anticipation of the final.
