Style star Lunathi Mampofu reveals her fashion secrets

When she's not tugging at heartstrings playing powerful characters in shows like The River, Inimba and Fatal Seduction, Lunathi Mampofu makes the world her runway with her fashion-forward looks. While the award-winning actor has been deservedly getting her flowers, taking home accolades from the Royalty Soapie Awards and the Feather Awards, Lunathi remains as humble and driven to take care of her family, revealing that although she was winning awards she was out of work and had to sell her car to support her family. Through it all, the 38-year-old thespian and mom remains a shining star in the entertainment industry. Not just for her captivating onscreen performances, but also for her distinct street style. Lunathi always brings her best, whether it's a tailored 'fit exploring her androgenous style or sporting bold prints on the red carpet. 'My clothing is a form of expression of how I feel at that time,' Lunathi tells TRUELOVE. How would you describe your personal style? 'I dress how I feel, I design how I feel and most of the stuff I'm dressed in I've designed or I've inspired the designer to do them like that. I always like to look different, my mom was always the type of woman who would not dress like anyone else ... She wouldn't go into the typical shops that everyone shops in but she will go and find boutiques and all that stuff because she always wanted to look different and I think that's what I kind of draw from, obviously, because she used to dress us like that as well as children. But I don't like to look like anyone else, to be honest with you.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu) What's next for you in the fashion space? 'I'm inspired by clothing a lot and I am going to start my own clothing brand soon ... It's been in the pipeline, it's something that I'm working on, and I'm praying to God to just direct me through it and I do it as well and as hard working as I do my craft. 'I want to give my all and I want to have enough time. That's something, unfortunately, that we don't get enough of.' A lot of your style includes bold shoulder pads. What do you love about making that kind of statement? 'The shoulder pad thing, for me, is just like, it gives you what we call isidima (gravitas). Shoulder pads [are] like i-petticoat. You know the petticoat thing that our parents used to wear underneath and then they wear with stockings and they'll wear their heels? It's one of those things that are staples that presented what a woman - poise. What isidima looks like and for me, that's what it is. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu) 'I was brought up by a woman who was constantly looking beautiful, loved herself, carried herself well to a point where you'd be scared to even say hi type of a situation because she's got that thing and I feel like i-shoulder pads do that for me.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu) What colours do you love against your skin? 'Nudes. I love nudes, I love black. But I think the colour of my skin complements, the shade of my skin, let me just say, is open to complementing a lot of different colors. That's why I like to experiment and play with them. But I am a natural colour woman.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lunathi Mampofu (@lunathimampofu)

The celebrated TV presenter graces the cover of the latest True Love magazine. I was Minnie Dlamini before the marriage, and I will be Minnie Dlamini long after my divorce.' My 'anti-bride' era… 🖤 'My career has never been, and will never be, defined by my relationship status. I was Minnie before marriage, and I will be Minnie long after my divorce.' 💎 @TrueLoveMag Get your copy, out now 😘 — Minnie Dlamini (@MinnieDlamini) April 28, 2025 Speaking of her divorce from television producer Quinton Jones. Dlamini's words have resonated deeply with many of her fans and fellow women in the entertainment industry. Her appearance in the glossy women's magazine comes shortly after her recent separation from popular plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa. This relationship had become tabloid fodder during its rise and now its fall. Minnie Dlamini and Dr Brian Monaisa. Minnie Dlamini. Picture: Instagram/@minniedlamini During a segment discussing her relationship with Monaisa, MacG said, 'Bro, I'm telling you, man. There's got to be something wrong with her; maybe her coochie smells or something. You know this happens, man, it happens, especially with the hot girls.' The comment, which many have condemned as misogynistic and vulgar, sparked immediate outrage. Social media users flooded timelines demanding an apology. As of publication, MacG has not publicly addressed the backlash. In response, local entertainment channel Moja Love issued a scathing statement via editor Nonzwakazi Cekete, denouncing MacG's conduct. 'MacG's persistent use of derogatory language towards women, reducing them to vulgar slurs and objectifying their bodies, is not just offensive; it is a damaging reinforcement of gender-based disrespect. 'Such behaviour has no place in society and media specifically, where voices should uplift, not degrade,' said Cekete. While we commend Moja Love for taking a firm stance against MacG's misogyny, it is important to confront a broader reality: much of their own content has, regrettably, contributed to the erosion of social values. 'What cap is this? MacG and Sol have shown they have a real issue with successful women,' he posted on Instagram. 'I stand for the integrity of women. These hardworking, respectful individuals deserve better than to be attacked by little weasels.' MacG under fire for insulting Minnie Dlamini after her breakup with Dr Brian Monaisa

Minnie Dlamini featured in True Love magazine, sharing insights on her career and personal journey, with a photo from the inside spread. Image: X Minnie Dlamini has shared a personal message on X, following recent controversial comments made by podcaster MacGyver "MacG" Mukwevho. On a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, MacG discussed Dlamini's past relationships and made offensive remarks about her personal life, sparking backlash on social media. In her post, Dlamini reflected on her identity and career, stating, 'My 'anti-bride' era… 🖤 My career has never been, and will never be, defined by my relationship status. I was Minnie before marriage, and I will be Minnie long after my divorce.' The post was accompanied by a photo of her TrueLove magazine cover, where she appears in black lace and on an inside page with a black lace veil. 'Podcast and Chill' host MacG crosses the line - again. Public outcry erupts after vulgar Minnie Dlamini comments. Image: Screengrab/YouTube Although Dlamini did not directly address the comments made by MacG, her post seemed to offer a subtle response, reaffirming her focus on her career and personal growth. During a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, MacG and co-host Sol Phenduka discussed Dlamini's breakup with her ex-partner, Dr Brian Monaisa. The conversation quickly spiralled into controversial territory. "Why can't she keep a man? There's got to be something wrong with her — maybe her coochie smells or something," MacG said during the discussion, adding: "It happens, man, especially with the hot girls." Reacting to the controversy, Dr Monaisa took to Instagram, criticising the podcasters for tearing down women. "What cap is this? MacG and Sol have shown they have a real issue with successful women," Monaisa wrote. "I stand for the integrity of women. These hardworking, respectful individuals deserve better than to be attacked by little weasels." This isn't the first time MacG's comments have landed him in legal hot water. In October 2024, he was slapped with a R13-million lawsuit after spreading damaging rumours about amapiano star Nkosazana Daughter. During an earlier broadcast, MacG implied that Nkosazana Daughter had been involved in an affair with fellow musician Master KG - and that her child was allegedly fathered by him, not her then-partner Sir Trill. MacG later issued a public apology after Nkosazana Daughter's family refuted the claims, saying he regretted making assumptions based on a photo of the child. "We were wrong. She looks just like Sir Trill," he said, offering an apology. However, he also claimed to have information from a 'credible source' alleging that Sir Trill was not financially supporting the child. The latest backlash has renewed calls for accountability in the podcasting space, with growing demands for platforms to take stronger action against content creators who perpetuate misogyny or spread harmful narratives under the guise of entertainment. As social media users continue to rally for MacG's removal, it remains to be seen whether the outspoken podcaster - often praised for pushing boundaries - has finally crossed a line too far. 'Secret Relationships' adapted into drama series, web novel

Hit BL webtoon makes rare leap to web novel format Kakao Entertainment announced that its hit webtoon "Secret Relationships" has been adapted into a series and a web novel, with the live-action series having premiered on various global streaming platforms on Thursday. The webtoon "Secret Relationships," which has amassed 170 million total views since its release in 2020, weaves the journeys of four male characters, focusing on the feelings of character Jung Da-on toward the other men. The webtoon has been serialized on global stages, rolling out in six territories including North America and Japan ― via digital comic platforms such as Tapas and Piccoma. Now reimagined as a 12-episode drama, "Secret Relationships" features rising stars Kim Jun-seo, Cha Seon-hyung, Cha Jung-woo and Kim Ho-young. The series, having premiered on Thursday midnight, is available on Watcha and several international streaming services, including FOD, iQIYI, GagaOOLala and Heavenly. The series' soundtrack features a star-studded lineup and has gained significant popularity, with BTOB's Lee Chang-sub's "True Love" and Paul Blanco's "Careless I Love You" amassing 3.4 million and 580,000 views on YouTube, respectively. In a rare reverse-adaptation move, the webtoon has also been transformed into a web novel, released on Feb. 14 under the same title. The adaptation delves deeper into the narrative with expanded dialogues, monologues and additional episodes that were not fully explored in webtoon. The web novel is currently available on Kakao Page. 'Not only does the work have strong artistic merit, but it has also secured a solid fanbase ― and as such, the adaptation of the webtoon into drama and web novel formats is expected to further strengthen its intellectual property power,' a Kakao Entertainment representative stated. 'As successful cases of content based on Kakao Entertainment's story IP continue to accumulate, collaborations with competitive production companies both domestically and internationally are increasing. This year, we will continue to create various opportunities to showcase the excellence of Kakao Entertainment's IP,' the official added.
