Canada is a liberal country, no doubt. But just as US states vary in political preference, not all Canadians are raging anti-Trump leftists!
In fact, the Canadian province of Alberta is closer than ever to breaking away from the rest of the Great White North and even reportedly mulling President Trump's 51st state offer.
Premier Danielle Smith announced Alberta will hold its first-ever referendum on independence in 2026.
The oil-rich and far more conservative province is sick and tired of Canada's liberal government blocking pipeline initiatives and other oil and gas projects.
Alberta has been threatening to break away for some time now but with the recent Liberal victory of PM Mark Carney, Albertans are reportedly nearing the breaking point.
A recent poll suggests 36% support the Alberta separation.
Many residents are intrigued at the thought of becoming our cherished 51st state!
Lower taxes, more freedom, unleashed energy potential and more, Albertans have a lot to gain from the move.
