Supercross 2025 results: 250 highlights, finish order, at New Jersey, Seth Hammaker wins, takes points lead
Seth Hammaker took the lead from holeshot winner Nate Thrasher on the first circuit and held his advantage for 19 laps to become the first 250 East rider to win multiple races in 2025 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. With the victory, he broke out of a tie with RJ Hampshire for the points lead with two divisional rounds remaining, one of which is an East / West Showdown in the Salt Lake City finale. None of the Eastern riders have been perfect, but Hammaker got one of his bad races out of the way early after struggling with his health in the second round in Detroit. He finished well outside the top 10 in 17th. Hammaker also suffered a disappointing finish in the muddy Foxborough, Massachusetts, race, but all of the title contenders struggled that day, and the impact was minimal. Even though Hammaker has a three-point gap to Hampshire and sole possession of the red plate, he knows the advantage can be lost as quickly as it was gained. Click here for a full recap of New Jersey Hampshire's biggest disappointment this season came in the series opener in Tampa, Florida, when he got hung up on a Tuff Blox on the first lap. He finished 18th in that race and was forced to play catch-up for much of the season, but podium finishes in Detroit, Daytona, and Birmingham put him in a position to capitalize on Tom Vialle's troubles in back-to-back races at Foxborough and Philadelphia. He came into New Jersey with a share of the points lead and could reclaim it with a win in Pittsburgh this weekend. Hammaker, Hampshire, and Vialle were separated by two points entering MetLife Stadium. They each had a solid run and stood on the podium, but Vialle lost five points in New Jersey and must overcome a seven-point hurdle in the final two races if he wants to defend his 250 East title. If anyone was prone to discount Cullin Park's second-place finish in the mud at Foxborough two weeks ago, the Florida native backed it up with a second top-five finish in East Rutherford. He was fourth in the rundown. New Jersey 450 Results For much of the afternoon, it appeared Nate Thrasher would become part of the championship conversation. A win in Birmingham quickly gave way to a pair of sub-10th-place finishes in Foxborough and Philadelphia, and with his fifth-place finish in MetLife Stadium, he has been practically eliminated from consideration. His three top-fives this season have been evenly spaced enough to keep him from gaining momentum. Thrasher crossed under the checkered flag fourth, but was penalized one position for gaining an advantage while off course. Austin Forkner was another rider who seemed to make progress. He showed speed in the preliminaries and scored a top-five in his heat. He rode in the top five for most of the Main but fell off the lead lap with two laps remaining and could only match his season-best finish of seventh. Supercross 2025 results: 250 highlights, finishing order, reaction at Philadelphia, Cole Davies wins again
Cole Davies benefited from a red flag for a crash involving teammate Daxton Bennick at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He got a great jump on the restart and rode to his second career 250 victory only one round after scoring his first in Seattle. Davies grabbed the lead on Lap 6 after passing Seth Hammaker and holeshot winner RJ Hampshire, while another of Davies' teammates, Haiden Deegan, took a little longer to get around those riders. That allowed Davies to develop a gap that Deegan could not close despite superior speed in the final laps. Davies is only the second rider this season to achieve multiple wins, joining Deegan in that honor. Deegan briefly fell outside the top three on the restart before climbing to third on Lap 7 and second on Lap 11. He's creating a reputation as a rider capable of coming through the pack, but poor starts create more drama for the teenager than he would prefer. In the post-race news conference, Deegan admitted to paying close attention to protecting his championship lead, and that caused him to back down his aggression slightly. Click here for a full recap of Philadelphia Hampshire was the highest-finishing rider from the Eastern division, and his third-place finish allowed him to secure a piece of the championship lead. Hampshire was the biggest beneficiary of the timing of the red flag because he fell in the opening lap of the initial start and dropped to the back. Had the red flag waved after three minutes of riding, AMA (American Motorcycle Association) rules would have called for a single-file restart. Instead, he got a second chance to get out of the gates strong and won the holeshot. Hammaker earned the holeshot at the initial start, but the red flag wiped it away. His second start wasn't terrible, but Hammaker could not assume the lead again and watched as other riders secured the more lucrative top three positions. Hammaker entered the round tied with Tom Vialle for the points lead and left Philadelphia tied with Hampshire. The battle for the 250 East title continues to be close. Philadelphia 450 Results Jo Shimoda rounded out the top five after passing Vialle with two laps remaining. After getting such a great start in the season opener in Anaheim, California, with the win, he has hovered around the top five with results of fourth through seventh in six of his next seven starts. Vialle's Philadelphia race could have been disastrous, especially after he failed to earn points in the mud in Foxborough. He crashed in his heat and had to qualify for the main by running the Last Chance Qualifier. A poor gate pick caused him to get pinched into a Tuff Blox during the first start of the feature. Vialle salvaged all he could and is now two points behind Hampshire and Hammaker. Supercross 2025 results: 250 highlights, finishing order, reaction at Detroit, Levi Kitchen wins
Taking the lead from Max Anstie on a green-white-checkered restart at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, Levi Kitchen became the sixth different winner in six rounds of 250 divisional racing. A red flag late in the feature for a crash involving Cameron McAdoo occasioned an oddly-time stoppage with only seven seconds on the clock. The riders were informed the race would resume with three laps remaining under a staggered start. It was the second consecutive red flag in 250 East divisional racing. Kitchen took a lap to gain momentum and passed Anstie on Lap 18 to become the sixth 250 winner in as many rounds. Anstie kept frustration out of his comments, but he must have felt like he was robbed of the victory. Anstie built a 7.7-second lead when the flag waved and had already settled into a comfortable pace to protect his line. Some consolation can be had in the fact that he retained the red plate for the second straight week and had a bike capable of winning. Several riders needed to bounce back from misfortune in Tampa, and high among them was RJ Hampshire. He got hung up on a Tuff Blox on Lap 1 in Florida and scored minimal points. He was never out of contention for a podium finish in Detroit, spending the entirety of the race in either the fourth or third position. He failed to gain ground on Anstie in the championship standings but gained a little on Tom Vialle. Vialle got a modest start and was outside the top five for the first five laps. He climbed as high as third briefly before getting pushed back to fourth at the checkers. Nate Thrasher won his heat and had a good gate pick to start the feature, but he did not get a good jump off the grid. Finishing Lap 1 in seventh, he methodically advanced through the field to round out the top five. Just missing that mark, Chance Hymas was happy with his performance nonetheless. Healing from injuries suffered during the Pro Motocross and SMX championships, he carries Honda HRC on his shoulders, along with Jo Shimoda in the 250 West, now that both Lawrence brothers have been knocked out of the 450 class. Detroit featured two scary moments for McAdoo. He hit the ground halfway through the feature, remounted his bike, and then crashed heavily as time was running off the clock. He posted an update on social media: 'Thanks everyone for your thought. We'll be good.' McAdoo finished last. Cameron McAdoo provided an update via his IG story after his scary crash in the 250 main event. #SMX #SupercrossLIVE Here are the 250 Supercross results, lap times, and points standings after Round 6 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan: Feature Results Fastest Sector Times Individual Lap Times Detailed Lap Times Heat 1 Heat 2 250 East Supercross Rider Points 250 Combined Points Manufacturer Points Here is the finishing order of Round 5 in Tampa: 1.
