Glider from Elmira makes alternate landing on soccer field in Wyoming County
TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. (WETM) — School students and faculty were in for a surprise in Tunkhannock on Monday after a glider landed on the school district's field.
The Elmira-based glider took off from Harris Hill on Monday, June 2, and soared off toward Wellsboro, and planned to return to Elmira, according to the Tunkhannock Township Police Department.

The pilot told police he missed a necessary updraft to complete his trip and had to choose an alternate landing sight which happened to be the school field.
No one was injured during the landing and the FAA was notified for further investigation into the incident, police said.
