Costco Products Recalled in Six States: Full List of Items Impacted
Costco has recalled potentially contaminated products including Coca-Cola's Topo Chico Mineral Water and a selection of Fresh & Ready Foods' sandwiches, in six states. The sandwiches were recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis. Listeriosis can result in fever, muscle aches, headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. The infection can also be fatal in older adults and people with weakened immune systems. The Coca-Cola product was recalled due to possible contamination with pseudomonas, a bacteria found naturally in water sources, which can cause Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection. It can affect your skin, blood, lungs, GI tract and other parts of your body, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable. Costco notified members about the Topo Chico Mineral Water recall on June 2, and informed consumers about the Fresh & Ready Foods recall on May 13. The full list of affected products are: Topo Chico Mineral Water 16.9 oz./500 ml in glass bottles, which come in packs of 18, with lot code 13A2541Fresh & Ready Foods Sandwiches:Turkey Bacon Club Sandwich, item number 1651757Turkey and Cheese Sandwich on Multigrain, item number 1013849Garlic Pesto Salad, item number 1913844Ham and Cheese Sandwich on Multigrain, item number 1013852Turkey and Cheese Croissant, item number 1651759Egg Salad Sandwich, item number 1653781 The affected sandwiches were purchased between April 28 and May 11, 2025, and had expiration dates of May 11, 2025. The issue was discovered after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted routine monitoring during in a site inspection and found traces of Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment. According to the Fresh & Ready Foods announcement, no illnesses had been reported in relation to the recall as of May 13. The affected Topo Chico Mineral Water products were purchased between May 20 and May 29, 2025. The lot codes can be found on the case and on the neck of the bottle. Fresh & Ready Foods, said its in announcement of the recall that it "has taken immediate corrective actions including removing equipment to address this issue to ensure ongoing food safety and compliance with FDA guidance." Coca-Cola said in its announcement: "The health consequences of consuming mineral water with the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered to be very low in healthy individuals with potential minor health consequences if consumed by individuals with weakened immune systems. The safety and quality of the products we offer our consumers is our top priority." Consumers are advised to return the affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund, and not to consume them. More than 90 types of ready-to-eat sandwich and snack products are being recalled. Fresh & Ready Foods is a brand impacted, with recalled items being sold at Costco locations. These recalled products are being linked to a Listeria active recall was just announced on over 90 different ready-to-eat sandwich and snack products, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This is due to the products' connection to a multistate Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. The Fresh & Ready Foods, City Point Market Fresh Food to Go and Fresh Take Crave Away products recalled were sold at retailers and food service locations (including hospitals, hotels, convenience stores, airports and airlines) in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington.
