Arsenal Sets Sights on Morocco's Star Youssef En-Nesyri
Rabat – Moroccan football star Youssef En-Nesyri is under the radar of several international clubs, including Arsenal.
Converging sports-focused news outlets are sharing speculations on Arsenal's interests in En-Nesyri, as he makes headlines for his outstanding performances with Fenerbahce.
'His goal-scoring record suggests he could be a valuable addition to Arsenal as they seek to strengthen their frontline,' sports news outlet Tribuna said on Thursday.
This season, the Atlas Lions scored 23 goals in 35 matches, and also made four assists.
En-Nesyri's portfolio speaks for itself as the Atlas Lion has played for several renowned clubs – including Seville FC, CD Leganes, and Malaga – before he joined Fenerbahce.
In his previous appearances in La Liga, En-Nesyri played 230 games and scored 69 goals.
Moroccan talent has been featured around the world. In Spain, he played in La Liga, Copa de Rey, and in Turkiye Super Lig and Kupasi. In terms of European competitions, he played in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Super Cup.
En-Nesyri is also a high-level figure for Morocco's national team, which he joined in 2016.
With Morocco, he appeared in 78 matches where he scored 23 goals. The Atlas Lion was also among the heroes who contributed to Morocco's World Cup momentum in 2022 in Qatar, where the North African country became the first African and Arab country to reach the semi-finals of the prestigious competition.
It is unclear whether Fenerbahce would let go of En-Nesyri, as he is key for the Turkish league.
Coach Jose Mourinho says that people have doubted the Atlas Lion. Yet, unlike these critics, Mourinho places his complete trust in En-Nesyri.
'When En-Nesyri arrived, he had no pre-season. He finished the season with Sevilla and then stopped. He wasn't fit for 90 minutes,' the coach said.
'It was either him or Dzeko on the pitch, never both. But when I started playing them together, everything changed.'
