He also said that agencies such as the Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp), the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), and the Malaysian Agriculture Office in Bangkok under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Malaysia play a vital role in efforts to strengthen the country's halal exports. Meanwhile, Director of ASEAN Mall Pattani and President of Uniti Asia Group, Datuk Jamal Mohd Amin, said nearly 100 companies from across ASEAN are taking part in this year's expo. 'The potential transaction value from business matching throughout the expo is estimated to reach 20 million baht,' he said.

One Police Officer Killed, Five Injured In Shootout At Narathiwat Police Station

Chanae Police Chief, Col Pol Wirasak Pesaena, said the incident occurred at around 8:40 am (local time) while police officers and defence volunteers were undergoing training at the entrance of the police station. bootstrap slideshow 'A group of men armed with rifles, including AK-47s, opened fire on the police officers and defence volunteers. 'The shootout lasted for nearly 15 minutes before the suspects fled the scene,' he told reporters at the site on Wednesday. Wirasak said one police officer was shot and died at the scene, while five others — police officers and defence volunteers — were injured. 'They were rushed to Prince of Songkhla University Hospital for treatment,' he said. Wirasak added that police recovered about 30 bullet casings at the scene. 'Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack and identifying those involved,' he said.

Illegal Racing: 10 Malaysians Fined In Hat Yai

The group, comprising six men and four women aged between 21 and 37, was believed to be involved in illegal street racing near the Greenway Bazaar area, following complaints from local residents. bootstrap slideshow Kohong Hat Yai Police Chief, Col. Apichat Wannako, said the incident occurred around 1:30 am. Police received reports from concerned residents about road safety in the area. 'Upon receiving the complaints, police conducted an investigation and found that six Malaysian-registered cars, which had been modified, were used in reckless driving. With the help of CCTV footage, police were able to identify and track down the suspects,' he told reporters on Sunday. According to Apichat, all the suspects admitted to the offence and paid a fine of 5,000 Baht each before being released on Sunday.
