Spanning over 2,200 square meters south of the mosque, the exhibition offers cultural and historical glimpses into the Islamic architecture. In order to enrich visitor experience, the exhibition displays intricate architectural details, such as the minbar and mihrab, domes and canopies, doors and minarets, courtyards, and visitor-friendly services. Through a modern advanced style, the exhibition provides multilingual murals and displays, ensuring a rich and integrated knowledge experience. Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition Attracts Visitors with Interactive Experiences
Visitors have recently flocked to Roshn Front to explore the latest artworks by 30 international and local artists at the sixth Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, Arab News reported. As an integral part of Riyadh Art initiative, the symposium has provided artists with an unparalleled opportunity to widen the idea of what a completed artwork really is, and allowed them to think of different ways to attract audience. Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition Themed 'From Then to Now: Joy in the Struggle of Making,' the event offered visitors a valuable opportunity to further engage with the artists' creative processes and the significance of contemporary sculpture. 'Art tends to be this idea of the artist as a sort of genius and the ideas are kind of obscure. It's not clear where things come from, or how things are made. I thought it was very interesting to create a space — this event — where the interest was not in the final product, but the whole creative, physical, and intellectual process behind those pieces,' co-curator Sebastian Betancur-Montoya told Arab News. 'Spontaneity' Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition Titled 'Spontaneity,' Saudi artist Rawan Al-Shehri's piece consists of three large, curved pieces crafted with two different stones. Interestingly, Al-Shehri's piece aims to boost playfulness and invite public interaction. 'My work focuses on how artists can sometimes believe they must produce the perfect art piece, but I think the focus should be the process of building an art piece — the joy in it and being more natural, or in our element, during our work. We could be faced with challenges or hurdles that change or enhance, even, the work itself and make it unique,' she said. Interactive Experience Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition Crucially, the goal of the forum is not only to showcase sculptures, but rather to provide a rich interactive experience through community activities. Therefore, the public can 'learn about sculpting techniques, speak with artists, and participate in the creative process, which enhances interaction with the arts and makes them part of daily life,' Co-curator Dr. Manal Al-Harbi said at the opening.
