Hard disk with visuals of Vishnu Manchu starrer Kannappa ‘stolen' from Hyderabad production house: Police
Just a month before the release of actor Vishnu Manchu's pan-Indian film Kannappa, a hard disk carrying footage of the movie has allegedly been stolen from the production company Twenty Four Frames Factory Private Ltd's office in Hyderabad's Film Nagar.
A police complaint in this regard was lodged on May 25 by Reddy Vijay Kumar, executive producer of the production house, at the Film Nagar police station. According to the complaint, a copy of which is with The Indian Express, the film's footage was sent to the production house's office by Hive Studios, a VFX vendor, from Mumbai on March 23. The complaint read that the courier was sent by DTDC. A staff member of the production house received the courier and handed it over to another staff member.
The latter is allegedly absconding with the hard disk, the complaint read. According to the complaint, the hard disk contains 'highly sensitive' content related to the film. Vijay Kumar has written in his complaint that the company would suffer financial loss if the contents of the hard disk were to be leaked or deleted.
'The hard drive was taken without any authorisation and with malicious and deliberate intent,' the complaint, which is quoted in the FIR, read.
'I request that the hard disk be recovered and handed over to me immediately,' the complaint read.
Kannappa is an ambitious mythological drama directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The film is backed by Vishnu Manchu's father and veteran actor Mohan Babu under the 24 Frames Factory banner.
Based on the story of Bhakta Kannappa, a follower of Lord Shiva, the film features Vishnu in the titular role. The star-studded cast includes Mohan Babu in the role of Mahadeva Shastri, Sarath Kumar as Nathanathudu, and Madhoo as Pannaga. The film has cameos of pan-Indian superstars like Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal.
