I tried own-brand Twister ice lollies – the supermarket winner impressed my kids and cost £1.29 a pack
Scroll down to read Lynsey's verdict for each pack N-ICELY DONE I tried own-brand Twister ice lollies – the supermarket winner impressed my kids and cost £1.29 a pack A PACK of ice lollies is a must in every parents' freezer over the summer. And the humble Twister has long been a family favourite, regularly topping polls as one of our top choices. 6 Lynsey Hope tested own-brand Twister ice lollies to see how they fared against Walls Credit: Oliver Dixon However a pack of six will now set you back around £3, depending on where you shop - and they're tiny! The Walls' lollies are 20ml smaller than most of the supermarket own brands. But how do they stack up on taste? Lynsey Hope investigates... Walls Twister Mini 6 The Walls Twister Minis came in second most expensive in the taste test Credit: Oliver Dixon £2.90 for 6, Sainsbury's (48.3p each) Nutrition per lolly: 39 calories, 0.5g fat, 6.5g sugar, 0.01g salt Size: 50ml I loved the flavour of these. They are a real unusual mix of strawberry, lemon and pineapple - but it works. They are quite unique and they also have ice cream rather than just pure lolly which elevates them above many of the own brands. They are not too sugary and low in fat so they are a great option for smaller children. But my 10-year-old would huff at this as it's so tiny. Costing nearly 50p each, you really don't get much for your money. Taste: 5/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 8/10 Asda Fruit Spiral Lollies 6 Asda's twister lollies were one of the more budget-friendly options Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.38 for 5, Asda (27.6p each) Nutrition per lolly: 46 calories, less than 0.5g fat, 8.5g sugar, less than 0.01g salt Size: 70ml A brilliant size, these look really impressive and they were quite refreshing on a hot day. However, whilst they cooled me down I felt they were a bit lacking in flavour. These need a fruity boost to make them more appealing. Sadly, although a wallet-friendly price, they weren't anything special. Taste: 3/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 6/10 Tesco Fruity Helter Skelters 6 Lynsey's kids were keen on Tesco's own-brand Twisters Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.29 for 5, Tesco (25.8p each) Nutrition per lolly: 48 calories, 0.2g fat, 9.6g sugar, 0.04g salt Size: 70ml These looked almost identical to the Asda lollies but they contained a tiny bit more juice and tasted a little fruitier. The kids were impressed - they were among the first to be grabbed from the ice cream draw. They are a good size and not too high in sugar. They are slightly better value than Asda too, costing just over 25p each. Plus, they didn't melt too quickly and were really refreshing in the warm weather with a lovely fruity taste. These are a great choice overall and my winner from this test. Taste: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Overall score: 9/10 M&S Super Loop Lollies 6 M&S' own-brand lollies came out most expensive in the taste test Credit: Oliver Dixon £2.50 for 5, Ocado (50p each) Nutrition per lolly: 49 calories, 0.1g fat, 9.5g sugar, 0.01g salt Size: 50ml A delicious mix of orange, pineapple and strawberry flavours, I loved these and they looked really pretty, if a little small. The fruity flavours were delicious and refreshing to eat. Sadly they are a bit pricey at 50p per lolly, which makes them more expensive than Walls and they are the same mini size. I'd have given them a better rating if they were a bit bigger. Nevertheless, they were devoured in seconds. Taste: 4/5 Value: 3/5 Overall score: 7/10 Aldi Gianni's Fruit Spiral Lollies 6 Aldi's lollies are a great cheaper option if you've got less cash spare Credit: Oliver Dixon £1.29 for 5, Aldi (25.8p each) Nutrition per lolly: 54 calories, 0.1g fat, 11g sugar, 0.02g salt Size: 70ml Aldi's spiral lollies tasted a lot fruitier than other options, with delicious notes of orange, pineapple, apple and lemon. The colours were appealing and they were a good size AND an even better price, costing just over 25p each. They did contain some glucose syrup to sweeten them up a bit but I have to say I did like the flavour. Lovely, bargain lollies and a great option for feeding the masses. Taste: 3/5 Value: 5/5 Overall score: 8/10 How to bag a bargain SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain… Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with. Tesco shoppers say 'love this' as they notice surprise meal deal addition
In a new Facebook post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, one shopper shared a photo that showed you can choose an ice lolly as the snack option of your meal deal Tesco shoppers are just realising that you can choose an ice lolly as part of your supermarket meal deal. Tesco charges £4 for a main, snack and drink, reduced to £3.60 if you have a Clubcard. In a new Facebook post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, one shopper shared a photo that showed you can choose an ice lolly as the snack option of your meal deal. The post shows that ice lollies such as Twisters and Mini Pops are included. They said: 'Tesco are now doing ice lollies in the meal deal (not sure if new this year or if I'm late to the party). Down in the Clubcard section of the freezers.' The post quickly took off, with one person commenting: 'Love this!!!! Esp [especially] for summer.' Another said: 'I need to go there.' However, others pointed out that this isn't a new deal - in fact, it was around last year. One worker also commented: 'Only selected stores I work in an extra an [sic] we dont have this offer on.' Others also said that Sainsbury's and Co-op have previously offered lollies with their meal deals too. It comes as Tesco shoppers are being urged to use their Clubcard points before they expire at the end of this month. Tesco sends out Clubcard vouchers every three months - in February, May, August and November - and they are valid for two years. This means the ones that are expiring on May 31, 2025, were first issued in May 2023. The supermarket has emailed a reminder to customers, saying: 'Your Clubcard vouchers are expiring soon. Don't forget to use them on your next shop.' Tesco shoppers earn one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on groceries in stores and online, or one point for every two litres of fuel purchased at a Tesco petrol station. You also get one point for every £1 spent with Tesco Mobile or for every £1 spent using a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card, and one point for every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card. You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend at Tesco. But if you're not quite ready to use your vouchers yet, there is a trick to extend their life - and double their value. It involves using your Clubcard points with a Tesco "Reward Partner" such as Thorpe Park, Pizza Express and the RAC. It you make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards webpage, your remaining Clubcard voucher balance will then be credited back to you as points. These points will be turned into vouchers again when Tesco next issues you a Clubcard statement. You will need to do this for every voucher you have though - so it may not be worth it for smaller amounts. Tesco has around 20 million Clubcard members in the UK.

Daisy Edgar-Jones just wore this $40 Australian-made fake tan on the red carpet in Cannes
Let's be honest, red carpet beauty prep feels a long way from our everyday bronzing routine, but when Daisy Edgar-Jones stepped onto the Cannes red carpet looking like a glowy goddess, we collectively needed answers. The actress, known for her roles in Normal People, Twisters, and On Swift Horses, wasn't glowing by chance; she was tanned to perfection by celebrity tanner James Harknett using Australian-made, certified organic Three Warriors self-tan. Yep, this local legend of a beauty brand helped Daisy look like she'd just returned from a week on the Amalfi Coast, not stepped off a plane and into the glare of international flashbulbs. So, how can you get Daisy's lit-from-within bronze without a glam squad? James Harknett, aka the man behind the glow, spilled his red carpet tanning secrets, and it starts with prep. 'Daisy's prep is always on point,' James says. 'She always follows my tips to a T. A cool rinse, exfoliation, and making sure the skin is clean and oil-free. She uses the Three Warriors Tasmanian Sand Scrub, which creates the perfect canvas.' Step 1: Start with a smooth canvas: Exfoliating Tasmanian Sand Scrub, $29.95 at Adore Beauty This gentle, natural scrub is packed with real Tasmanian sand (no microplastics here) and works to buff away dead skin cells while hydrating with Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil. It's ideal for removing any patchy remnants of last week's tan and smoothing the skin pre-application. Step 2: Go for glow, not orange: Self Tan Mousse, $38.95 at Adore Beauty Described as ' nothing too strong ' by James, this lightweight mousse builds a natural-looking tan with warm bronze tones that suit fair to medium skin beautifully. It smells like vanilla and lime (not the usual biscuit), dries quickly, and fades like a dream. 'I use fine layering to build colour and even contour,' James shares. 'The olive and violet tones in Three Warriors neutralise orange, which is key.' Step 3: Don't skip the aftercare: James swears by cool showers, no oily body products, and gentle moisturisers to make your glow last. Avoid harsh face products too; anything with AHAs will strip your tan fast. His favourite trick to maintain the glow? Three Warriors' Hydrabronze Tanning Drops added to your night cream. 'The perfect colour and hydration boost,' he says. From Hobart to Hollywood Three Warriors founder Corbin Halliday says seeing his brand go from small-batch beginnings in Tasmania to the Cannes Film Festival is still surreal. 'I never dreamed it would end up on the red carpet with A-list celebrities,' he said. 'Seeing it grow from Hobart to Hollywood is honestly surreal.'
