Loitering, jaywalking lead to drug arrest in Manchester
Manchester Police officers on bicycles observed 'suspicious behavior' of several individuals on Elm Street early Monday morning, which later led to an arrest after the group jaywalked, and one took off on foot.
The incident took place around 12:40 a.m. near 1061 Elm St., according to a news release.
The officers continued to monitor the group after they crossed the street outside of a designated crosswalk.
Once officers radioed dispatch, a 28-year-old man took off on foot, according to the news release. He was later identified as Tyvon Watson of Manchester.
Watson was charged with possession of a controlled drug and resisting arrest.
An officer was able to catch up with Watson, but when another officer got out of a Ford Expedition police cruiser, the SUV rolled forward and unintentionally struck Watson and the officer, according to the news release.
'The suspect received immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital. The officer, who sustained an arm injury, was also taken to the hospital for evaluation,' the news release said.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by New Hampshire State Police.
