‘No Kings' marches planned in New York City this weekend

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Residents and advocates are expected to take the streets in New York City as part of nationwide protests against President Donald Trump's administration this weekend. Thousands are expected to gather for the day of action dubbed the 'No Kings March' at Bryant Park at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The demonstration holds a commitment to nonviolent action with organizers urging participants to de-escalate any potential confrontation with opposers. More Local News The nationwide protest falls on Flag Day and the same day as Trump's parade in Washington D.C. to mark the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army Grand Military. More than 1,500 cities are expected to host 'No Kings' events from coast to coast, according to the organization's website. The 'No Kings March' comes after dozens of advocates have taken to the streets in NYC this week to protest the increased deportations from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. More: Latest News from Around the Tri-State NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Mayor Eric Adams both promised to protect the right to protest as long as it's peaceful. 'Two wrongs do not make a right,' Adams said. 'I understand that some New Yorkers may be angry, afraid, and I understand, NYC will always be a place to peacefully protest, but we will not allow lawlessness.' 'We have no tolerance for property damage, we have no tolerance for people blocking entrances to buildings or blocking driveways or blocking cars for moving,' Tisch said.
