Salem man gets 9 years in prison after 20K fentanyl pills, 28 pounds of meth found at home
PORTLAND, Ore. () — A Salem man was sentenced to nine years in prison for drug trafficking charges related to an investigation that began back in 2021. Rico Anthony Russell Rigutto was sentenced after investigators discovered thousands of fentanyl pills, dozens of pounds of methamphetamines and other drugs in his possession, the U.S. Department of Justice said. Armed man arrested after standoff at Papa Murphy's It all began on December 14, 2021, when investigators arranged to buy counterfeit oxycodone pills from Rigutto as part of a drug trafficking sting, court documents say. 'Investigators observed him arrive and depart the meeting location, after which they conducted a traffic stop on Rigutto,' the U.S. DOJ said. During a search of Rigutto's car, investigators found and took possession of about 3,000 counterfeit pills with fentanyl in them and a gun with a conversion switch attachment to convert it from a semi-automatic to a fully automatic weapon. Investigators later searched Rigutto's home using a search warrant they obtained and seized 20,000 additional counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, 28 pounds of meth, six pounds of heroin and $100,000 in cash. They also found and took possession of 15 guns, including an AR-15 rifle and another handgun with a conversion switch. A grand jury in Portland indicted Rigutto on drug and gun possession charges in 2022. In 2023, he pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute but subsequently failed to appear in court for his sentencing less than a year later. Estacada man allegedly brought 270 pounds of meth from California to Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore. () — An Estacada man was arrested on Saturday and accused of trafficking 270 pounds of meth. Anthony Berrera, 29, faces charges that include possessing methamphetamine and cocaine with the intent to distribute after allegedly bringing the drugs from Southern California into Oregon, the U.S. Department of Justice said. Roosevelt HS student dies, 2 more hurt in SR-14 crash Barrera rented a vehicle, traveled to California to pick up large quantities of drugs with the intention of selling and distributing them in Oregon, then headed back to his home state, investigators said. 'On May 24, 2025, officers located Barrera driving the rental vehicle northbound on Interstate 5 and followed him to a rest area near Roseburg, Oregon, where Barrera was arrested without incident,' the U.S. DOJ said in a press release. 'Agents executed a federal search warrant on the rental vehicle and seized 270 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of cocaine, which were concealed in the backseat and cargo area of the vehicle. Later the same day, investigators executed a federal search warrant on Barrera's residence where they seized two firearms hidden under the floor of a closet.' Nevada resident charged in violent Tesla arson case in Las Vegas
( — The Office of Public Affairs released a statement that they have arrested and charged a Nevada resident who was in connection with violent Tesla arson in Las Vegas. U.S. DOJ stated that according to allegations in the complaint, on March 18, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department patrol officers responded to an emergency call about a person setting vehicles on fire and hearing gunshots at a Tesla collision business. Clark County Fire Department arrived at the scene and suppressed the fire. During the investigation, it was determined that Molotov cocktails and a .30 Caliber AR-style firearm had been used to damage and destroy five Tesla vehicles, and graffiti with the word 'Resist' was written on the front of the building, stated U.S. DOJ. A Las Vegas resident made his appearance on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to face federal charges related to an arson at a Tesla collision business, according to a press release by the U.S. Department of Justice. Brother of man convicted of killing Laken Riley sentenced, to be deported
GEORGIA (WJBF) – The brother of Jose Ibarra, the Venezuelan man who was convicted of killing Augusta University College of Nursing student, Laken Riley, was sentenced on Wednesday and will be deported after serving his time. According to the United States Department of Justice, Diego Ibarra, also known as 'Gocho,' 29, was sentenced to serve 48 months in prison after he admitted to possessing a fraudulent Green Card during the murder investigation of Laken Riley and pled guilty to two counts of possession of a fraudulent document on July 15th, 2024. The U.S. DOJ adds that Argenis Ibarra, also known as 'Meny,' 25, also of Venezuela, was sentenced to time served after he pled guilty to one count of possession of a fraudulent document on December 10th, 2024, and Rosbeli Flores-Bello, also known as 'La Gorda,' 29, also of Venezuela, was sentenced to time served after she pled guilty to one count of possession of a fraudulent document on December 11th, 2024. ALSO ON WJBF: Body cam video released of officer-involved shooting in Augusta According to court documents and statements referenced in court, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) was made aware of Diego Ibarra's undocumented presence in the United States on February 23rd, 2024, during the murder investigation of Laken Riley, and at the time, an Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) officer approached Diego Ibarra because he matched the description of the primary suspect in the murder investigation, which was his brother, Jose Antonio Ibarra. The documents state that during that time, Diego Ibarra gave the ACCPD officer a counterfeit U.S. Permanent Resident Card (also called a Green Card) as identification and was taken into custody. According to the U.S. DOJ, Diego Ibarra, Argenis Ibarra, and Rosbeli Flores-Bello are to be delivered to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation as Diego Ibarra will be placed in ICE custody at the conclusion of his federal prison sentence while Argenis Ibarra and Flores-Bello will be placed in ICE custody immediately.
