Indonesian medical team joins UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish

The inclusion of the Indonesian team supports the efforts of the Emirati medical staff working at the hospital and expands the scope of healthcare services provided, in line with the highest global standards in medical and nursing care. Reinforcing UAE-Indonesia humanitarian ties This collaboration reaffirms both countries' commitment to enhancing their partnership in humanitarian and relief fields. Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Director of the UAE Floating Hospital, stated that the arrival of the third group of Indonesian medical personnel to work alongside the Emirati team in supporting Palestinian brothers from the Gaza Strip reflects the deep historical ties between the UAE and Indonesia. A humanitarian milestone in the region The UAE Floating Hospital is considered one of the most prominent humanitarian initiatives by the UAE in the region. It was inaugurated on 23rd February 2024, to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the wounded from the Gaza Strip. The hospital is equipped with 100 beds, 100 companion beds, fully equipped operating rooms with the latest technology, as well as intensive care units, radiology, and laboratory departments. Thousands of lives impacted Since its inauguration, the hospital has provided more than 8,600 medical services, performed over 3,300 surgeries across various specialties, delivered more than 3,700 physiotherapy sessions, and fitted 23 prosthetic limbs for Palestinian patients from the Gaza Strip. A testament to the UAE's humanitarian vision This initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to its humanitarian approach, extending aid to affected populations and strengthening its international partnerships to provide relief and urgent medical support in times of crisis.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Wednesday Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. The two leaders explored opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in key areas including the economy, investment, renewable energy, sustainability, and infrastructure. The discussions took place within the framework of the two nations' strategic relationship and comprehensive economic partnership, with the aim of supporting their shared development ambitions. The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. Sheikh Mohamed and Subianto also reviewed a number of regional and international developments of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their countries' consistent approach of supporting peace and stability and addressing challenges through dialogue and diplomatic means, to foster development and prosperity for people worldwide. They further underscored their shared commitment to strengthening UAE-Indonesia relations, which continue to witness significant progress, for the benefit of the peoples of both nations. WAM During Subianto's visit, the two leaders witnessed the announcement of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the UAE and Indonesia. These covered a wide range of sectors, including the economy, investment, environment, food security, renewable energy and sustainability, in addition to agreements on cooperation in the fields of security, Islamic affairs and other areas. The meeting and agreement announcement were attended by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President; Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. Also present were Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia; Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eagle Hills Abu Dhabi, and the accompanying delegation of the Indonesian President. Recently, Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Republic of Indonesia, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to Indonesia from Jan.29 to Feb.1. During the visit, the minister held meetings with senior Indonesian officials to explore ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, aiming to advance relations to a level that reflects the aspirations of the leadership of both friendly nations. Accompanying Al Mazrouei during the visit was Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia and the non-resident Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of East Timor, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). At the beginning of the visit, Al Mazrouei was received by Prabowo Subianto at his residence in Jakarta. The meeting discussed mechanisms to further strengthen joint cooperation in various fields, as the UAE-Indonesian relations have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership across political, economic, investment, trade, and cultural sectors. For his part, the Indonesian President had expressed his pleasure in welcoming the UAE delegation and emphasised Indonesia's interest in further developing relations with the UAE in areas that serve the mutual interests of both nations. It was agreed by both sides to continue cementing bilateral cooperation and accelerating the finalisation of bilateral agreements and joint ventures in preparation for their approval between the two countries. Separately, Sheikh Mohamed on Wednesday also issued a Federal Decree appointing Mubarak Ali Abdullah Al Neyadi as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice. WAM

Mubadala's Sanad, Lion Air sign a new key MRO agreement

Sanad, the global aerospace engineering and leasing solutions leader wholly owned by Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Investment Company, has entered into a five-year partnership with Indonesia's Lion Air to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for V2500 engines powering its Airbus A320 fleet. The deal reinforces UAE-Indonesia economic cooperation, aligning with the UAE-Indonesia comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA), which targets $10bn in annual trade by 2026. The V2500 engine, produced by International Aero Engine, has powered commercial aircraft since 1989, with more than 2,600 in operation across 170 airlines worldwide, accumulating over 275 million flight hours. As of 2023, more than 5,280 V2500 engines remain in active service. Sanad will leverage its Abu Dhabi-based facilities to service Lion Air's V2500 fleet. Having overhauled more than 250 V2500 engines in the past five years, Sanad has been the sole V2500 full overhaul provider in the Middle East since 2012. This partnership strengthens its position as a key independent MRO provider serving leading global airlines. Lion Air, Southeast Asia's largest privately owned airline, operates a fleet of over 310 aircraft. The agreement extends to include Batik Air and Super Air Jet, subsidiaries of Lion Air, which collectively operate more than 65 V2500-powered aircraft. With over 38 years of experience in aircraft engine MRO, Sanad has serviced more than 600 V2500 engines since 2012, supporting more than 30 airlines and 10 strategic partners across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia. The partnership strengthens Sanad's role as a leading independent MRO provider while contributing to Abu Dhabi's growing reputation as a global aviation hub and aligning with the UAE's vision for international industrial expansion.
