MoIAT Strengthens Industrial Standards As It Signs Strategic Pact with MCBG
The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the Multinational Companies Business Group (MCBG) to advance standardisation, technical regulations, and capacity building—key pillars of the country's industrial and economic strategy. The agreement was formalised during the Make it in the Emirates forum by Dr. Farah Al Zarooni, Assistant Undersecretary for Standardization Affairs at MoIAT, and Turki Bin Moammar, Chairperson of MCBG, in the presence of senior officials from both parties. This partnership reflects a concerted effort to align the UAE's regulatory frameworks with global best practices. Under the agreement, MoIAT and MCBG will launch joint initiatives such as expert exchanges, capacity-building programs, participation in standardisation committees, and collaboration on innovation-led projects. Dr. Al Zarooni emphasized that the MoU demonstrates MoIAT's commitment to deepening ties with international industry leaders and promoting a regulatory environment that drives innovation and sustainable growth. 'Aligning our frameworks with international standards is vital to realising the UAE's strategic vision,' she said. Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with First Abu Dhabi Bank, Emirates NBD, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, and WIO Bank. The agreements aim to provide competitive financing for industrial companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, and to support investment in advanced technologies across the UAE. Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary at the Ministry, said the initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to empowering the industrial sector through strategic partnerships with top financial institutions. He added that the MoUs will help SMEs scale, innovate and contribute to the UAE's goal of building a diversified, knowledge-based economy.
