3 injured after car catches fire following multi-vehicle crash
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah () — Three people were taken to a local hospital after a car caught fire following a multi-vehicle crash in southern Utah on Saturday.
According to Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash on State Route 59 just after 5 p.m. on May 3. While heading to the scene, officials learned that one of the vehicles was on fire and that 'multiple patients were involved.'
'Upon arrival, crews initiated triage and began fire suppression efforts,' Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue said on social media. 'The incident involved two vehicles and a total of three patients, all of whom were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.'
After responding, officials were able to extinguish the vehicle fire, as well as some nearby brush that had caught fire. The incident occurred near mile marker 12 on State Route 59.
Several units responded to the scene, in addition to officials with the Utah Highway Patrol, UDOT Incident Management, Hurricane City Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Each of the three people involved received minor injuries. The latest conditions of the victims were not disclosed by officials as of Saturday evening.
There is no further information at this time.
