Departing Kaizer Chiefs star issues parting words
On Tuesday, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that the club would be parting ways with popular defender Edmilson Dove when his contract expires at the end of June.
The Mozambican international, who joined Amakhosi in August 2022 after spending six months with UD Songo in Mozambique, quickly became an integral part of the team and played a total of 56 official matches during his three seasons with Kaizer Chiefs.
In addition, he wore the captain's armband on a few occasions and also contributed two goals for club.
Taking to social media, the 30-year-old posted a heartfelt farewell message, as shared below.
'1 – Dear Dr Kaizer Motaung, thank you Mr Chairman for allowing me and my family to be part of the amakhosi family, for allowing me to fulfill a childhood dream,' Dove wrote. 'It's been a crazy ride of which I have grown not only as a player, but as well as a human being.
'We had our ups and downs, we have shed some tears along the way but we also had joyful moments which I will cherish forever.
'2 – To every coach, team mate, kit manager, gardener, kitchen staff and everyone associated to the club that I have had the opportunity of working with, here goes my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude. Each and everyday we got to spend together was valuable. The bond created is unbreakable.
'3 – To the faithful ones. Thank you for your unwavering support throughout the years, even when we failed to deliver you remained by our side cheering for us.
'Your commitment and love for the team never Goes unnoticed, you are dearly loved and appreciated..
'4 – To my lovely family. When times are dark, you are my light. You are my why. Thank you for always being my my side through it all.'
