'I'm not going back': Jose Aldo makes UFC retirement decision official
'I'm not going back': Jose Aldo makes UFC retirement decision official After leaving the door open for a potential return, Jose Aldo has now made it clear that his fighting days are over. Jose Aldo is officially calling it a career in combat sports. The UFC Hall of Famer removed his gloves in the octagon after losing a unanimous decision to Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 315 in Montreal. At that moment, Aldo (32-10 MMA, 14-9 UFC) declared he didn't have it in him to compete anymore, but in a follow-up statement, he appeared to leave the door open for the possibility of fighting again. Now, Aldo, 38, has made it clear: he is retiring from combat sports. Aldo released a statement on Instagram, accompanied by photos from a press conference Saturday at Nova Uniao's training center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The statement written in Portuguese reads (translated by Instagram): The cage has always been my place. The Struggle, My I end this cycle with my soul in peace.I'm not going back because I have already fulfilled my purpose — with blood, sweat, discipline and years of totally focused and dedicated to it's time to live and enjoy alongside my family, to help those who are starting and to inspire beyond the to those who walked with for all I've achieved! According to MMA Fighting, Aldo stated at the press conference that no matter the fight offered, he would not return to fighting again. "Junior" will walk away from MMA on a two-fight skid of decision losses to Mario Bautista and Zahabi, with his last victory coming at UFC 301 by way of unanimous decision over Jonathan Martinez. "No, I have another purpose in life, another path," Aldo said at the press conference. "Offer me any fight, wherever it is, I don't want to. I don't see myself fighting anymore, or training, or doing anything like that. Of course, I do see myself training here to help my friends. I know how hard that is, so if I can help in any way with the experience I have, I will help with all my heart. But to specifically put a gi or anything like that to fight, never again." The former WEC and UFC featherweight champion first walked away from MMA in 2022 after current champ Merab Dvalishvili ended his three-fight winning streak. However, Aldo remained active in combat sports by testing his hands in the boxing ring, where he went the distance with three opponents to build a record of 2-0-1. During that stretch, Aldo was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. He then returned to action in May 2024 to pick up his final victory against Martinez.

Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi prediction, pick, start time for UFC 315
Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi prediction, pick, start time for UFC 315 Hall of Famer Jose Aldo returns to action on the UFC 315 main card against Aiemann Zahabi. Will this one go the distance? Jose Aldo and Aiemann Zahabi meet Saturday on the main card of UFC 315 at Bell Center in Montreal. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 4-2 UFC main cards, 2025: 41-35-1 Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi UFC 315 preview Aldo (32-9 MMA, 14-8 UFC) will enter his first fight of 2025 looking to return to the win column. In his prior outing, the Brazilian legend lost a split decision to Mario Bautista at UFC 307. Aldo returned to the UFC after a Hall of Fame induction while dabbling in professional boxing. In his return bout at UFC 301, Aldo won a unanimous decision over Jonathan Martinez. ... Zahabi (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) gets the opportunity to extend his five-fight winning streak against his biggest name opponent to date. The Canadian has put together an impressive run with wins over Drako ROdriguez, Ricky Turcios, Aori Qileng, Javid Basharat and Pedro Munhoz. Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi UFC 315 expert pick, prediction Serving as a solid main card offering is a bout between Aldo and Zahabi that will now take place at 145 pounds. Weigh-in fiasco aside, this is a fight that could play out closer than some suspect. Although Aldo is the superior striker on paper, there's denying the miles and age of the featherweight legend. Say what you will about Zahabi's mechanics, the Canadian has clearly put time into his boxing and wields power that the Brazilian will need to respect. Zahabi and his camp are also solid game planners, so don't be shocked if this contest gets tedious and tactical at times. I don't like picking against either of these fighters, but I'll side with Aldo to win by unanimous decision. Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi UFC 315 odds The oddsmakers and the public favor the former WEC and UFC champion, listing Aldo -164 and Zahabi +205 via FanDuel. Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi UFC 315 start time, how to watch Aldo and Zahabi are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 11:15 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

Georges St-Pierre to corner against fellow UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo at UFC 315 Georges St-Pierre will serve as a cornerman at UFC 315. St-Pierre will be in the corner of Aiemann Zahabi (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC), who meets former two-time featherweight champion Jose Aldo (32-9 MMA, 14-8 UFC) in a bantamweight bout in the UFC 315 main card opener (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) at Bell Centre in Montreal. The news was first reported by The Canadian Press.
