Farmers gather in Marianna for 2025 Perennial Peanut Field Day
JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Farmers from around the state met in Marianna on Friday, June 6, for the 2025 Perennial Peanut Field Day.
The Perennial Peanut Producers Association hosted the annual event in partnership with the UF IFAS Panhandle AG extension team.
The educational program featured five innovation updates about the industry, with tips for planting and harvesting.

Farmers also discussed the state of the industry.
'I think the biggest challenges are always the cost of the inputs that we have to use. Fertilized chemicals, we've seen those go up this year. This is a very unique crop. So the people talking today are from the university, and we're still learning a lot of new ways to grow this crop and what to do with this crop. So, with it being a newer crop, there's always the challenge of not knowing what you're doing, sometimes affecting you down the road,' Perennial Peanut Producers Association President Tyler Putnal said.
The program was followed by a tour of the UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center's beef and forage research unit.
