Govt requests parents to update children's Aadhaar biometrics In a significant development, the government has urged parents and guardians to update their children's Aadhaar biometrics who have reached age seven. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reiterated the importance of completing the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children who have attained the age of seven but have not yet updated their biometrics in Aadhaar, as per a report by news agency IANS. What's the update on Fingerprints, iris and photo of Children The report has also said that the fingerprints and iris biometrics of a child are not captured for Aadhaar enrolment below the age of five because these are not mature at that age. Aadhaar news: After how many years do biometrics of children have to be updated on Aadhaar card? The answer is...
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues Aadhaar cards to the residents of India as identity and address proof. So far, it has issued the Aadhaar card to more than 90 percent of the population of India. The Aadhaar card is an important document not only for adults but also for children as it plays a vital role from school admission to identity verification, accessing government services and subsidies, and financial transactions, online and offline authentication, and streamlining the process of proving one's identity for different needs. Why is biometric information of children not taken for Aadhaar card? However, biometric information is not taken in the Aadhaar card of children initially because at a young age, fingerprints and iris scans are not clear. Hence, the Aadhaar card for children is made on the basis of photo and general information in the Aadhaar card of children. But after a certain age, biometrics have to be updated in the Aadhaar card of children. Here, we will tell you complete information about after how many years is it necessary to update the biometrics of children. When should the biometrics of children be updated on Aadhaar card? According to the rules of UIDAI, it is necessary to get the biometrics updated twice in the Aadhaar card of children. The first time when the child turns 5 years old and the second time when the individual turns 15. As per the process, fingerprints and eye scans are taken at the age of 5 years so that the child's Aadhaar record can be updated. After this, biometrics are updated once again at the age of 15 years. If you do not get this update done, then the Aadhaar card might be deactivated and hence, will not be valid in places like school, college, or bank. Therefore, it is necessary to get the biometric updated as soon as the child reaches the age of 15 years. What is the process to update children's Aadhaar? If you also have children in your house and the time has come to get their biometric updated, then you have to visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. For this, you can book an appointment from the official website of UIDAI. You have to go to the Aadhaar center and fill the update form and the child's fingerprint; eye scan and new photo will be obtained. You will not have to pay any charge for biometric update. You can check the status of your updated report through the UIDAI website.

How To Prevent Fraud By Deactivating Aadhaar Of A Deceased Family Member
Last Updated: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new service for reporting the death of a family member through the myAadhaar Portal. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released new guidelines to prevent the misuse of Aadhaar numbers following the death of an individual. UIDAI recently deactivated 1.17 crore deceased people's Aadhaar numbers in an effort to clean up its database. It has also introduced a new service— 'Reporting of Death of a Family Member" – on the myAadhaar Portal to assist existing Aadhaar cardholders in reporting the death of a family member. The purpose of the initiative is to prevent the fraudulent use of the deceased's Aadhaar number for purposes such as opening bank accounts, claiming subsidies, or receiving any other government benefits. UIDAI has also advised Aadhaar users to register their family members' deaths on the myAadhaar Portal following the acquisition of their death certificate from the local government. The new facility was introduced on June 9 on the myAadhaar Portal and officially announced on July 16, per The Economic Times. The online service is accessible in 24 states and Union Territories that utilise the Civil Registration System. Moreover, UIDAI recently asked the Registrar General of India (RGI) to provide death records that are connected to Aadhaar IDs. · Open the myAadhaar Portal on UIDAI using · Select the newly introduced option 'Report Death of a Family Member.' · Enter your OTP and Aadhaar number to log in. · Enter the deceased person's information, such as their Death Registration Number and Aadhaar number. · Upload the death certificate obtained from the local government. · Verify your relationship to the deceased. · Complete the procedure and submit the self-declaration. Following the appropriate procedure for verifying the data provided by the family member, the deceased person's Aadhaar number will be deactivated by UIDAI. In certain instances, UIDAI automatically deactivates the Aadhaar number without the family's involvement once the system finds a match. Furthermore, UIDAI is looking at the prospect of obtaining death records from banks and other Aadhaar ecosystem organisations that keep track of them. States are also receiving assistance from the Aadhaar-issuing agency in locating the holders of deceased Aadhaar numbers. States are being given access to the demographic information of Aadhaar number holders who are above 100 years old as a pilot project to confirm that they are still alive. After receiving a verification report, the required validation will be completed before the Aadhaar number is deactivated. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Delhi: UIDAI probes unauthorised website offering Aadhaar-related services, staffers booked
The Delhi Police has lodged an FIR into the alleged fraudulent use of the Aadhaar ecosystem after an employee with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) filed a complaint against several individuals, including his colleagues. The FIR was lodged on July 10 at the Cyber police station in the New Delhi district based on a complaint filed by Ravinder Rawal, the Assistant Section Officer in the Enforcement Division of the UIDAI Head Office. The FIR named two multi-tasking operators (MTOs) at UIDAI's Regional Office (RO) in Delhi, two Aadhaar operators, and other unknown individuals as the primary accused. According to the FIR, the UIDAI began an internal probe after it discovered an unauthorised website, was offering various Aadhaar-related services not sanctioned by the authority. The services included printing Aadhaar cards using fingerprint-biometrics and Aadhaar numbers, as well as generating Aadhaar numbers by using enrollment IDs and registered mobile numbers. To check the veracity of the website, the authority shared a test Enrollment ID on the website around 9 pm on May 5 to get a Unique Identification (UID). The website charged Rs 300 for a service called 'Generate UID using Enrollment ID (EID)', Rawal said in his complaint. He added that in response to the EID, the website fraudulently fetched the Aadhaar number and displayed it on the website. Thereafter, when the UIDAI checked its system to find out who searched for the EID, it discovered that one of the MTOs had accessed the details at 2.55 pm on May 6. According to the FIR, the MTO — who was granted controlled access to Aadhaar-related information for quality audit and review tasks — admitted that another MTO frequently used his login credentials for the RO portal and requested one-time passwords (OTPs) to access it. While some access was for official work, the other MTO also used his portal for unauthorised data searches, it added. The FIR said that further investigation revealed that the other MTO did not have access to the RO portal and admitted to using the login credentials of his colleagues. He also disclosed his connection with an Aadhaar operator, who reportedly approached him because his system couldn't provide UID details using EIDs or phone numbers. The operator allegedly told the MTO that his Aadhaar centre was often visited by people who asked for such details. According to the FIR, a deal was struck – the operator would send EIDs or mobile numbers to the MTO, who would then retrieve the UIDs from the RO portal and share the same. In return, the operator paid the MTO Rs 50 per transaction. These payments were often made to the MTO's wife, who would then transfer the funds to her husband's account. The FIR added that a similar arrangement was discovered in relation to another alleged Aadhaar operator, who also sent resident details to the MTO for information retrieval from the RO portal, for which payments were made. The FIR included detailed transaction records from April 2023 to February 2025, showing money transferred to the MTO. Additionally, the MTO admitted to making payments to two former MTOs at UIDAI-Head Office in Delhi, who are already under investigation for fraudulent Aadhaar update activities, said the FIR. 'The aforesaid act… shows that they have conspired and intentionally carried out fraudulent updates and transmitted identity information of individuals. They dishonestly used the Aadhaar ecosystem, cheated individuals by deceiving them through an illegal Aadhaar update process, and created false documents using a computer, dishonestly and fraudulently in lieu of undue financial advantage,' Rawal said in his complaint.
