UIL State Track: Which Amarillo-area athletes left Austin with a medal?

Track season is over in the Lone Star State after an exciting weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Multiple Texas Panhandle teams had strong showings at the UIL State Track Meet, with two teams earning top three finishes in the event. Panhandle's girls won their third consecutive title in Class 2A, edging out Refugio by two points with a win and a new state meet record in the 1,600-meter relay. Advertisement The Pantherettes also won the sprint relay and finished second in the 4x200 to go along with a first-place finish and new state meet record in the 300 hurdles from Carly Land and a third-place finish from Nelly Thiessen in shot put. In Class 4A, Canyon's girls claimed second place, finishing with 45 points and a new state meet record in the 1,600-meter relay. Randall's girls finished fourth in Class 4A, while Silverton's girls tied for fourth place in Class 1A. Wellington's boys team tied for fifth place in Class 2A, and Canyon's boys' squad claimed fifth place outright in Class 4A.
