Vijayawada, June 5 (UNI) On the occasion of World Environment Day, former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the pressing need to combat plastic pollution and protect the environment for the survival of humanity. Taking to 'X', on Thursday, he echoed the United Nations' message on curbing plastic usage, describing it as a critical priority. "The Earth is being engulfed by the menace of plastic. The United Nations' message on World Environment Day to protect the environment by curbing plastic usage is of utmost importance. The survival of humanity is intrinsically linked to environmental conservation. Industries worth Rs10,000 crore to be established in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar, May 13 (UNI): Industries worth Rs.10,000 crore will be set up in Mayurbhanj district, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Tuesday. The Chief Minister, who laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several projects worth Rs.420 crore during his visit to Mayurbhanj, said that industrialization will accelerate the development of the district and create vast employment opportunities for its residents. He also announced the establishment of a new +2 college at the Bishoi Block Headquarters and declared that the mini stadium in Bishoi will be named after the great leader Dharanidhar Naik, whose statue was also unveiled. While addressing a program at the Bishoi Mini Stadium, the Chief Minister said that these projects mark a new chapter in the developmental journey of Mayurbhanj district. "Today is a day of pride and honour for the people of the district. These initiatives will usher in a new era of development in Rairangpur, Kusumi, Bijatala, Bahalda, Jamda, and Tiring, and will lay the foundation for building a prosperous Odisha," he said. The Chief Minister noted that the projects include rural drinking water schemes, mega piped water supply systems, school infrastructure upgrades, banking facilities, health centers, road construction, tribal cultural centers, and other government infrastructure developments. AP Ex-CM Jagan Reddy consoles parents of martyred Murali Naik

Anantapur, May 13 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy consoled the family members of martyred Murali Naik at their residence in a highly emotive atmosphere where the parents broke down on several occasions and a pall of gloom descended over the small living room of the braveheart. Murali Naik was killed in an encounter with infiltrators in J&K a few days ago. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy went to Kalli Thanda of Goruntla Mandal and paid tributes to the martyred soldier on Tuesday. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh on behalf of the Party. He said the tradition of honouring soldiers who lay their lives in the line of duty by giving an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh was started by the YSRCP government, which has been followed since then. The parents of Murali Naik on several occasions broke down while narrating the memories of their child, and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave a patient hearing and said soothing words to the bereaved couple that was in deep sorrow. Later, in his brief address, the former Chief Minister said that the spirit of Murali Naik lives on as the supreme sacrifice stands as a testimony to the call of duty. 'Though young in age, the Martyr will be a source of inspiration to many and laying down life for the safekeeping of the country is an act of valour and honour. People will be indebted to the sacrifice of Murali Naik,' he said. UNI DP BD
