Telangana CM reviews grain procurement, monsoon preparedness, housing initiatives in VC with officials
Hyderabad, May 27 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a high-level video conference with ministers, top officials, and all district collectors from the Command Control Centre on Tuesday evening to review key government initiatives, including grain procurement, Indiramma Indlu, Bhu Bharati, and monsoon preparedness.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Damodar Rajanarasimha were present alongside Chief Secretary A Ramakrishna Rao and senior officials.
The Chief Minister announced that Telangana has recorded its highest-ever grain procurement of 64.5 lakh metric tons, with 90 per cent of the crop already procured.
He congratulated the collectors and officials for this achievement, noting that Rs 12,184 crore has been transferred to farmers' accounts within 48 hours of procurement—a record turnaround time.
However, he flagged challenges due to the early arrival of monsoon, 15 days ahead of schedule, and urged officials to complete the remaining procurement swiftly, using local godowns if needed.
He also called for strict action against millers or brokers harassing farmers, and urged Collectors to regularly update the public on procurement status to counter misinformation and politically motivated narratives.
With 29 per cent more rainfall expected this monsoon, the CM directed Agriculture Department officials to ensure readiness, including availability of seeds and fertilisers, and alertness against fake seed sellers, warning of PD Act action against violators.
On the Bhu Bharati initiative, he emphasised that it should be a 'gift to poor farmers' and asked officials to organise awareness seminars and bring the new land legislation closer to the public. The third phase of revenue conferences will be held from June 3 to 20.
Discussing the Indiramma Housing scheme, the CM said district Collectors must play a key role in effective implementation, including ensuring timely distribution of free sand coupons, loans for brick and centring units, and use of modern technology. He instructed officials to form price control committees at the mandal level to monitor mason and crusher prices.
Ministers in charge of each district will visit their respective regions on May 29 and 30, and submit a full report by June 1.
The CM also directed that Telangana Formation Day on June 2 be celebrated in all districts with due grandeur, an official statement said.
