UPMC Hamot hosts annual Wear Red Expo for women's heart health
Friday was National Wear Red Day, an event designed to spread awareness about heart health, especially in women.
To help get the word out, UPMC Hamot held their 18th annual Wear Red Heart and Health Awareness Expo.

Hamot conducted more than a dozen screenings for things like cholesterol, blood pressure, and provided resources to people in need.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women and experts say it's important to keep track of your numbers.

'You'll want to get your screenings done. If you can be ahead of the disease, then you are ahead of obviously the number one killer. We just try to get out into the community with these events in order to have awareness and to get those screenings so that you don't have to become one of our patients,' said Tiffany Irwin, senior practice manager for UPMC Cardiology.
More than 300 people attended the expo this year, which is the most Hamot officials say they've ever had.
