Minister assures to take up journalists' demands with CM Yogi
Lucknow:
UP minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh
has assured to take up long pending demands of journalists with
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
. Speaking at a programme of the UP Working Journalists Union and the
UP Press Club
on the
International Labour Day
in Lucknow, Singh also announced the installation of a water cooler for journalists at the Press Club.
K Vikram Rao, national president of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists, and Ravindra Singh, president of UP Press Club, urged the govt to accept journalists' demand for pension.
Haseeb Siddiqui, state president of the UP Working Journalists Union, demanded a Journalist Protection Act, free medical facilities for all journalists at SGPGI, formation of a tripartite committee to monitor cases related to the harassment of journalists.
The union requested gov to recommend to the central govt to restore concession on train fares for journalists and form a Media Council in place of the Press Council and exempt journalists' vehicles from toll plaza charges. Journalists Shiv Sharan Singh, Prem Kant Tiwari, Devraj Singh and Vishwadev Rao also shared their thoughts on the occasion.
